Hello! I'm Hakata Aya, a writer who loves hot information about Fukuoka.

This time, we will introduce you to a shop that bagel fans must visit!

Limited time offer until September 23rd! The hugely popular bagel specialty store "BAGEL & BAGEL" opens on Ippin Nishidori Street (Hakataeki Chuo-gai, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City)

BAGEL & BAGEL, a bagel specialty store boasting the largest number of stores in Japan, will open on Ippin Nishidori Street inside JR Hakata Station for a limited time from Thursday, July 25th, 2024 to Monday, September 23rd (a substitute holiday).

Although they currently do not have a permanent store in Fukuoka, they are a popular shop known among bagel lovers.

Inside BAGEL & BAGEL

Most regular bagels are hard, but the main feature of "BAGEL & BAGEL" is the moist and chewy soft texture created by a unique manufacturing method. It seems that even small children are happy with it because it is easy to eat.

15 kinds of bagels available! Limited menu items and muffins too

There are 15 kinds of bagels on display at the store. They are all priced at 220 yen each, but you can also get a little discount by buying five bagels for 1,000 yen.

The most popular item is always the "Blueberry" (220 yen). It's the classic bagel and my favorite! The chewy dough is filled with sweet and sour large blueberries, giving it a rich flavor.

When you pick it up, its weight makes you worry whether you'll be able to finish it, but it's so delicious you'll finish it in no time.

It's so delicious that you'll find yourself reaching for more and more!

The second most popular item is the "Earl Grey Milk Tea" (220 yen). This dish combines fragrant Earl Grey with milky, sweet white chocolate chips to create a rich milk tea flavor.

The third most popular is "Cocoa White Chocolate" (220 yen). The bitter black cocoa dough and sweet white chocolate chips go perfectly together!

The fourth most popular is "Maple Walnut" (220 yen)! When toasted, it has a sweet aroma similar to that of pancakes.

In addition to sweet menu items, there are also savory dishes such as "Soy Milk Edamame" (220 yen) and "Cheddar Cheese" (220 yen).

"Cheddar Cheese" is apparently popular among men as well. It also goes well with alcohol.

Be sure to check out the "Lemon Tea" (220 yen), which is only available at the "Hakata store" this time! Candied diced lemon peel and Earl Grey tea leaves are kneaded into the dough. The refreshing lemon scent and black tea flavor make it the perfect taste for summer.

In addition to bagels, muffins (250 yen each) were also on sale.

Staff recommended delicious ways to eat

BAGEL & BAGEL bagels can be frozen for 30 days from the date of production, so you can buy a lot in bulk.

You can just let it thaw naturally, but you can also savor the freshly baked flavor by using a toaster, frying pan, grill, or microwave.

The staff's recommended way to eat it is in a toaster: take it out of the freezer and let it thaw naturally at room temperature (approximately 30 minutes at room temperature), then toast it in a preheated toaster at 1000W for 1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes, or at 500W for 2 minutes to 2 minutes 30 seconds.

Thawing in the refrigerator will cause the moisture to escape, so we recommend thawing at room temperature. If you spray a small amount of water on it with a spray bottle before putting it in the toaster, you can enjoy a crispier texture. Please give it a try.

It's open from 9am, so it's perfect for breakfast, lunch, or as a souvenir. Be sure to check it out before September 23rd (a holiday Monday)! (Text by Hakata Aya.)
