[New store directly connected to Hakata Station] The exquisite "chicken skin" that is prepared over 5 days is a must-try! A popular yakitori izakaya

Hello! I'm Hakata Aya, a writer who loves hot information about Fukuoka.

A noteworthy new store has opened in the Hakata Station Underground Mall, just a one-minute walk from the Hakata Exit of JR Hakata Station!

A popular yakitori izakaya with multiple locations in Tokyo returns in triumph! "Torikawa Nagamasa Hakata Branch" (Hakata Station Underground Mall)

Torikawa Nagamasa is a popular yakitori izakaya with eight locations in Tokyo, with the concept of "Spreading the deliciousness of Hakata to the whole country." On July 29, 2024, the long-awaited "Hakata branch" opened in Fukuoka.

It is located immediately to the left after passing through the passageway from "Hakata Bus Terminal" to "Hakata Station Underground Mall." It is conveniently located for both locals and tourists.

Once you pass through the brand new noren curtain, you'll find a bright and clean interior. There are counter seats as well as table seats, so it's an atmosphere where you can casually stop by even if you're alone.

Yakitori restaurants are usually thought of as places to go in the evening, but they open at 11am so you can also visit during lunch time. It seems like it can be used for a variety of occasions!

Introducing the specialty "Hakata Torikawa" that takes 5 days to prepare and other noteworthy dishes

I tried some of the featured menu items.

The specialty of "Torikawa Nagamasa" is "Hakata Torikawa" (1 stick 190 yen / 5 sticks 930 yen / 10 sticks 1,800 yen)! There are two types, sauce and salt, and you can order from one stick. This time, I chose sauce.

They use the skin of the neck of domestic chickens, which has little subcutaneous fat. They soak it in a special sauce, then grill and cool it repeatedly, slowly cooking it over a period of five days. This removes excess fat, making it crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside!

The chicken skin is coated with a glossy coating of sauce, and the sauce has soaked into it, making it delicious with a concentrated umami flavor...! It's surprisingly light, so you could eat as many as you want.

In addition to "Hakata Chicken Skin," there is a wide variety of skewered menu items available, such as "Pork Belly" (210 yen), "Negima" (250 yen), "Tonjiri" (180 yen), "Tsukune" (250 yen), and "Meat-Stuffed Shiitake Mushroom" (290 yen).

Be sure to check out the "Yuzu Sauce" on the table.

If you add it to the "cabbage" and "Hakata chicken skin" skewers that come with yakitori, the refreshing scent of yuzu will fill your nose and make a nice accent.

There is also a wide selection of a la carte dishes to enjoy while waiting for the skewers to be cooked.

The "Potato Salad" (480 yen) topped with a soft-boiled egg is the shop's top recommendation.

The "Grilled Mentaiko" (880 yen) was grilled to perfection, and I thoroughly enjoyed the crunchy texture and delicious flavor.

"Hakata Grilled Pig Trotters" (470 yen) is delicious and soft! It's voluminous and I was surprised at the price. The yuzu sauce goes well with the pig's trotters!
