This time, I'd like to introduce you to a special curry that has impressed me the most recently.

An authentic taste born from a company cafeteria! "GY CURRY" (Muromachi, Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City)

GY CURRY was born from a company cafeteria and opened as a curry specialty restaurant in July 2019. The store was renovated in February 2023.

It is easily accessible, just a 5-minute walk from JR Nishi-Kokura Station and a 2-minute walk from Riverwalk Kitakyushu.

The interior of the store is stylish and fashionable, and the atmosphere is welcoming even for solo diners.

The "Green Curry" that recreates the authentic Thai taste is a must-try! A taste review of all four of their proud curries

At "GY CURRY," you can choose from four types of base: "Green Curry," "Beef Curry," "Pork Curry," and "New Beef Curry." You can also choose the toppings, spiciness, type of rice (white rice or turmeric rice), and amount, so you can customize it to your liking.

Homemade chicken cutlet green curry

First, I started with the "Homemade Chicken Cutlet Green Curry" (1,100 yen), which I had been wanting to try for a while.

Among the "GY CURRY" dishes, the "Green Curry" is especially popular.

As the restaurant originated from a company cafeteria, it has spent two years recreating the flavors of a local food stall that impressed everyone when they visited Phuket, Thailand on a company trip.

Green curry has the image of being extremely spicy, but apparently the spiciness is milder to suit Japanese tastes.

When you take a bite, the gentle sweetness of the coconut milk spreads across your cheek, followed by the delicious flavors of the vegetables and chicken. Then comes the perfect spicy kick, making it truly delicious!

The crispy chicken cutlet is packed with flavor with every bite. It is cut into small pieces, so it's easy to eat with curry.

Hamburger beef curry

The "beef curry" was popular in the company cafeteria. It is a "slightly luxurious home-style curry" that is a remake of the flavor that has been enjoyed for many years at the founder's home.

This time I ordered the "Hamburger Beef Curry" (970 yen) topped with two "Fried Shrimp (whole piece)" (200 yen).

This curry is made by slowly simmering several types of vegetables and beef, allowing you to fully enjoy the sweetness and umami of the ingredients.

After that comes the spicy heat, and although it is described as a home-cooked dish, it is luxuriously delicious!

Not only the juicy and plump hamburger steak, but also the meaty fried shrimp is delicious!

When I took a bite of it with curry, I felt so happy.

Summer vegetable pork curry

The "Summer Vegetable Pork Curry" (820 yen) is available for a limited time until early September 2024. Cherry tomatoes, okra, corn, eggplant, and other items are visually vibrant and make you feel happy!

"Pork curry" was also popular in the company cafeteria. It is a classic country curry with a slightly more luxurious twist, making it the "classic Japanese curry."

The sweetness of the pork and the umami of the vegetables are perfectly blended into the light roux, making it delicious! It was obvious that the dish was made with great care.

New beef curry with fragrant spices

The new "Spicy New Beef Curry" (620 yen) was introduced on June 21, 2024.

Beef and vegetables are slowly simmered to bring out the richness and flavor of this curry, which is then blended with over a dozen spices, including cumin, coriander, and cardamom. The aroma and stimulation of the spices will have you coming back for more!

It was so delicious that it was a must-try for those who like spicy curry.

The after-meal service is also nice.

If you order curry for eat-in, you can enjoy the "Free Refills Coffee" service (150 yen) which allows you to drink as much freshly ground coffee or cafe au lait (both hot and iced) as you like, which is a nice touch!

The cups were also very cute, and I was able to enjoy a relaxing and happy moment after my meal.

What you'll want to eat at the Giravanz Kitakyushu match! Stadium-exclusive "chilled keema curry"

GY CURRY also has a stall at Mikuni World Stadium Kitakyushu when Giravanz Kitakyushu plays their home games.

Another hot topic is the limited-edition "Girasol Chilled Keema Curry" (800 yen), which can only be enjoyed here. This product is based on the motif of the sunflower, which is the city flower of Kitakyushu, and the sun, which is also the origin of the name "Giravanz Kitakyushu."
