I really want to keep this a secret! A popular restaurant with a spectacular view and delicious udon noodles (Kanzaki City, Saga Prefecture)

Hello. I'm Yuri and I love going out with my kids.

This time, I'd like to introduce you to a famous udon restaurant in Kanzaki City, Saga Prefecture, that was unanimously praised by my family.

"Iwaya Udon" (Kanzaki City, Saga Prefecture): A restaurant with a spectacular view and long lines

Just under an hour and a half drive from central Fukuoka, Iwaya Udon is located in a secluded spot at the entrance to Mount Sefuri in Kanzaki City, Saga Prefecture.

It is located along Prefectural Route 21, heading from Kanzaki City to Mitsuse Village in Saga City.

It is popular for being able to eat delicious udon while taking in the spectacular view, and is crowded with people every day.

Even though we arrived just after the store opened at 11:00 a.m. that day, there was already a long line, indicating how popular it is.

Please understand that it takes some time to prepare delicious food, so please come with plenty of time and patience.

As I was walking around the area while waiting, I heard chickens crowing.

They raise about a dozen chickens, which are a rare, pure domestic breed called "Momiji chicken."

The eggs have large yolks and a taste that is popular among Japanese people. They are used in Iwaya Udon dishes fresh from the moment they are laid, and are also sold in limited quantities.

There is also clean mountain water that can be used to wash your hands.

The walk was so enjoyable that I didn't mind the wait.

The restaurant has table seating, tatami seating, and terrace seating.

On a nice day, we definitely recommend the terrace seats!

The magnificent view in front of you is soothing. There is even a waterfall on the right hand side of the photo!

By the way, you can see the falls from the parking lot.

Near the cash register, they sell home-grown shiitake mushrooms (dried in the sun) and ohagi (rice dumplings).

Apparently shiitake mushrooms are also used in the dishes, and are very popular with regular customers, some of whom come just for them.

Packed with the delicious flavor of shiitake mushrooms ♡ Exquisite and hearty "Sanzoku Udon" and "Sanzoku Soba"

When you look at the menu, you'll be surprised at the variety!

There are over 30 different types of noodles to choose from, ranging from hearty dishes such as "Cho Sanzoku Soba" (1,800 yen) and "Cho Sanzoku Udon" (1,600 yen) with two servings of noodles and double the toppings, and the topped "Special Soba" (1,300 yen) and "Special Udon" (1,150 yen), to dishes under 1,000 yen such as "Kake Soba" (500 yen) and "Kake Udon" (370 yen).

This time, I ordered one each of the shop's recommended dishes, "Sanzoku Udon" (980 yen) and "Sanzoku Soba" (1,100 yen). Both are topped with plenty of meat, burdock tempura, mountain vegetables, and shiitake mushrooms.

We ordered large portions of both (udon +150 yen, soba +250 yen) to share with our kids, and to our surprise, they arrived in a clay pot!

I was surprised at how big it was (laughs).

The homemade udon noodles are soft and full of flavor.

The sweetness of the meat melts into the gentle broth.

The batter on the burdock tempura becomes soft and doubles in flavor!

And especially noteworthy are the super thick shiitake mushrooms.

Yes, those shiitake mushrooms sold in stores.

When you take a bite of the thick, sweetly simmered meat, the broth overflows and your mouth is filled with an overwhelming amount of flavor!

The broth with all this delicious flavour is also amazing ♡ The light flavour is instantly transformed into a rich and full-bodied flavour!

Once you try this, you may never go back to regular shiitake mushrooms.

The ingredients and broth are the same, but the soba noodles have a different flavor. The flavor and texture of the noodles were both excellent.

"Fried Chicken Thighs" (390 yen) comes in a pack of three and is the perfect side dish.

It was crispy and juicy and was a big hit with the kids.

The view was spectacular, and the air and food were delicious. Eating a meal under the blue sky was amazing!

Apparently they sometimes run out of noodles by 2pm, so we recommend coming earlier.

Why not go out and spend some time resetting your tired body and mind? (Text by Yuri-chan)
