[Kokura Station Lunch] Highly recommended! An unexpectedly delicious menu where the chef has put his all into it (Kitakyushu City)
Hello. This is Chihi Log, a casual website that provides information about Fukuoka, with a focus on gourmet food.
This time, we will introduce you to a restaurant where you can enjoy live music and authentic cuisine.
Right next to Kokura Station! Live & Grill Beyond is a place where you can enjoy live music, great views and delicious food.
"Live & Grill Beyond" is located on the 8th floor of the adjacent "KD Building", about a 1-minute walk from the south exit of JR Kokura Station.
The interior of the store is a high-quality space filled with luxury.
There is terrace seating, so on sunny days you can enjoy an authentic meal while looking out over Kokura Station and Saint City.
Live music is played on the stage inside the store for 30 minutes every day from 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm (times may change). The immersive live performance creates an extraordinary experience.
Beyond is open in two shifts, lunch and dinner. We will start by introducing lunch.
A must-try lunch at Kokura Station! Exquisite ramen made by a chef with passion
What we would like to introduce this time is "Beyond's Serious Ramen," which was added to the existing menu on April 25th during lunch time (11:30-15:00, last orders at 14:00).
In fact, this restaurant employs a chef with over 30 years of experience, including a chef who has worked as a chef at a famous ramen restaurant. These skilled chefs spent over six months perfecting this masterpiece! Two types are available, with only 30 bowls of each.
Meat and soy sauce ramen
In the photo below, the ramen in the foreground is the "Beef Soy Sauce Ramen" (1,200 yen). *It comes with a "boiled egg" topping.
From the first bite, it was a punchy, overwhelmingly delicious treat. I was shocked!
For an additional charge, you can add "boiled egg" (150 yen), "extra meat" (250 yen), or "rice" (150 yen) to your ramen. *The photo below shows "extra meat."
The noodles, which are sourced from Hokkaido, go perfectly with the hearty yet sharp soup.
The meat is finely cut from belly and shoulder roast, and is grilled until fragrant just before being served.
If the meat is a whole block, it would be eaten in one sitting, so the meat is cut so that customers can enjoy both the noodles and the meat at the same time.
Miso Ramen
"Miso Ramen" (1,200 yen *the "boiled egg" in the photo below is a topping) is a dish made from a blend of miso from Hokkaido and Fukuoka.
Based on the authentic flavor of Sapporo, it has been created to have a familiar taste for people of Fukuoka.
Both ramen were bold and punchy, yet delicate with a clean aftertaste! They were shockingly delicious.
Great value for money! There are also about 10 other lunch sets available
There are also plenty of other lunch sets available (starting from 1,480 yen), which come with a welcome drink, soup, salad, and dessert (soup and dessert change depending on the season).
This is Beyond's specialty "Steak Curry" (1,480 yen). The salad is served next to the meat, not on a separate plate. On this day, it was potato soup and white wine jelly.
A generous amount of tender wood-grilled steak is served on top of the rice!
The curry is made using 30 different spices collected from around the world. It's spicy, but also has a mild, fruity flavor. It's easy enough for even small children to eat.
The course menu is a great deal during dinner time! Enjoy the famous T-bone steak while listening to live music.
During dinner time (18:00-23:00, last orders 22:00), you can enjoy your meal while taking in the beautiful night view of Kokura and listening to live music.
Although we visited on a weekday, it was extremely popular!
There is a wide variety of ala carte dishes available, but we recommend the course menu, which offers great value for money.
The "Wood-grilled T-bone steak 1kg course" (12,870 yen per person, minimum order is 2 people) allows two people to enjoy 1kg of hearty T-bone steak.
If you are dining with three or more people, the amount of steak will remain the same, but you can add dishes other than steak for 3,300 yen per person.
This time, we were given a special chance to see the meat before it was grilled, and we were amazed at the volume of it!
The steaks are grilled in an impressive display in the open kitchen at the restaurant's entrance.
You can enjoy two types of T-bone steak: loin and filet. The meat is roasted over a wood fire, giving it a rich aroma, and is so tender it melts in your mouth. The flavor of the meat is brought out to perfection.
Be sure to try the wood-grilled steak, which is still a rarity in Kokura.
Other items included were "seasonal salad," "soup of the day," "bread sticks with mushroom sauce," "three types of a la carte," and "garlic rice."
The three a la carte dishes on this day were Ratatouille and Shrimp Terrine, White Fish Escabeche and Mozzarella Cheese, and Serrano Jamon and Salted Cake.
The dessert plate consisted of pound cake, nougat glacé, assorted fruits, and mango sorbet. It was even decorated with candy, and I was impressed by how beautiful it was.
