Gourmet foods that are known as "specialties" and continue to be loved are truly exceptionally delicious!

An event bringing together famous gourmet foods from all over Tohoku will be held at Hakata Hankyu.

[June 5-11, 2024] "Tohoku Products Convention" to be held at Hakata Hankyu

The Tohoku Products Convention will be held for seven days from Wednesday, June 5th to Tuesday, June 11th, 2024 at the Hakata Hankyu 8th floor event hall.

A total of 53 stores will be participating, eight more than last time, ranging from "classics" to "the latest gourmet foods" from the six Tohoku prefectures, including beef tongue from Miyagi Prefecture, the wildly popular zunda shake at Sendai Station, and sweets made by Tohoku's leading pastry chefs that are making their Kyushu debut!

Other notable eat-in options at the venue include a popular ramen restaurant in Fukushima that was ranked number one for two consecutive years in a famous ramen magazine, and a local sake bar where you can enjoy local sake from the six Tohoku prefectures.

"Yonezawa Kohakudo" Yonezawa beef steak and yakiniku bento [Yamagata]

First, we would like to introduce the "Yonezawa Beef Steak & Yakiniku Bento" (2,862 yen per person) from "Yonezawa Kohakudo."

Yonezawa beef is a representative brand of beef in Japan, popular for its finely marbled, high-quality fat and delicious flavor. You can enjoy Yonezawa beef to your heart's content by comparing its tender steak and juicy yakiniku!

"Tan-ya Zenjiro" Extra Thick Beef Tongue Assortment Bento (Salted Tongue with Green Onions, Heated) [Miyagi]

This is the "Extra Thick Beef Tongue Assortment Bento" from Miyagi's "Tan-ya Zenjiro" (3,151 yen per portion, limited to 30 per day). The Sendai style is thickly sliced yet tender. The more you chew, the more flavor comes out!

"Wakadaisho" Sanriku Abalone and Seafood Bento [Iwate]

The Sanriku Sea is rich in minerals and covered with kelp, wakame and other seaweed. You can enjoy the "meaty" abalone that grows only on this ria coast with the "Sanriku Abalone and Seafood Bento" from Iwate's "Wakadaisho" (2,916 yen per person, limited to 50 per day). It is full of the bounty of the sea, including scallops and salmon roe!

<First appearance in Kyushu region/Eat-in> "Ramen Okamura" Aizu Jidori Ramen [Fukushima]

In the ramen battleground of Fukushima, there's a popular restaurant that was voted number one for two consecutive years by a famous ramen magazine!

Fukushima's "Ramen Okamura" will be serving "Aizu Jidori Ramen" (951 yen per portion) for eat-in at the venue. This is the first time this flavor has been served in Kyushu, so it's a must-try.

New flavors representative of Tohoku are being introduced one after another!

In addition to the long-loved gourmet foods, don't miss the new flavors either.

<First appearance in Kyushu region> Maison Coelacanth [Miyagi]

Maison Coelacanth, a new brand following Kazunori Ikeda Individuel by Tohoku's leading pastry chef, Kazunori Ikeda, is making its Kyushu debut.

We will be introducing the "Coelacanth Monaka Simple Box" (6 pieces for 2,101 yen), a Japanese-Western fusion monaka made with a sweet and smooth bean paste made from Tokachi-grown red beans and French Isigny butter sandwiched between crispy skins and seasoned with a strong hint of Guérande salt.

Baked goods from "Kazunori Ikeda Individuel" will also be available, combining the worldview of Mr. Ikeda, who trained in France, with traditional methods.

<First appearance in Kyushu region> Konohata Toten Restaurant [Fukushima]

"Konohata Koten" is also making its Kyushu debut. It is a Japanese sweet made by wrapping Fukushima's traditional preserved food "Shimi Mochi (Yomogi Mochi)" in doughnut dough and deep frying it. You can enjoy three different textures at the same time: crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and chewy on the inside.

<First appearance at Hakata Hankyu> Aizu Yorozuya [Fukushima]

When you think of katsudon in Aizuwakamatsu city, you think of the soul food that is the "Aizu Sauce Katsudon"!

Fukushima's Aizu Yorozuya's "Jumbo Sauce Katsudon" (1,728 yen per portion) uses 200g of pork fillet cutlet. It features a sweet homemade sauce. It's so delicious that you'll be hooked once you try it!

Popular flavors loved by locals!

Zunda Saryo [Miyagi]

A wide variety of "Zunda" sweets, made from mashed edamame beans, will be available.

From "Zunda Saryo" in Sendai Station, in addition to the hugely popular "Zunda Shake (R)" (388 yen per cup), other highly recommended products include "Sendai Specialty Zunda Mochi" (1,080 yen for a box of 8), which is mochi wrapped around zunda paste, and "Premium Fresh Cream Bread Zunda Shake Flavor" (249 yen per box), which has a gentle sweetness that spreads softly in your mouth.

Daian Restaurant [Aomori]

"Daian Shokudo," a popular restaurant at the Tatehana Wharf Morning Market in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture, will be serving "Shioteba," crispy fried chicken wings with a light salt flavor (10 pieces for 1,383 yen).

Honda Fisheries [Miyagi]

"Kinka Saba Sushi" (2,916 yen per person) from Honda Suisan uses "Kinka Saba," a brand of mackerel caught off the coast of Kinkasan, where plankton is abundant, and is characterized by its rich fat and melt-in-the-mouth texture. It also goes perfectly with sake.

Kurikoma Teahouse [Iwate]

Kurikoma Chaya is a traditional Japanese inn that has been renovated into a cafe, and is only open during the period when you can climb Mt. Sugawa. Popular items include Nanbu Ichiro pumpkin paste, a specialty of Genbi Town, Ichinoseki City, and the beautiful looking dango "Five-Color Dango" (1,501 yen for a box of five)!

We have only introduced a small part of it! There are plenty of other delicious things to enjoy, including the "Tohoku Wakuwaku Marche," where you can casually shop around as if you were at a convenience store, and "Local Sake Bar Tohoku," where you can compare delicious sake from the sake-producing region of Tohoku (three recommended varieties for a comparison / 45ml x 3 glasses for 1,201 yen and more).
