Collaboration with Kyoto's long-established tea brand "Morihan"! [Lawson] Three "Matcha Sweets"
I'm Masayo Sakamoto, a writer who loves convenience store sweets.
This time, we will introduce three new sweets from Lawson that will be on sale from May 28, 2024! These are Uji matcha sweets supervised by Morihan, a long-established tea brand from Uji, Kyoto.
1: The dough and matcha go perfectly together! "Uchi Café x Morihan Rich Matcha Doramocchi"
First up is "Uchi Café x Morihan Strong Matcha Doramocchi" (246 yen).
It looks just like a regular Doramochi, but...
When you cut it open, you'll see vibrant matcha cream ♡ When you eat it, you'll taste a gentle sweetness with a hint of bitterness.
In the middle is a thick matcha paste with a strong astringent taste that really brings out the full flavor of the matcha. It feels like the matcha aroma that spreads in your mouth is even stronger.
The chewy pastry with a sweet aroma is delicious. Combined with the smooth cream and paste, it's a surefire combination.
I was able to enjoy a variety of flavors with just this one product, including sweetness, bitterness, and astringency.
2. Enjoy Uji matcha! "Uchi Café x Morihan Rich Matcha Roll Cake (with matcha sauce)"
This is the "Uchi Café x Morihan Rich Matcha Roll Cake (with matcha sauce)" (268 yen).
The batter, cream, and sauce all use Uji matcha, making this a dish that truly allows you to fully enjoy matcha.
The roll cake is served in a plastic tray, and even when viewed from the bottom, it is packed with cream!
The cream wrapped in the soft dough is fluffy and almost meringue-like! It melts on your tongue.
The thick matcha sauce sandwiched between the cream is truly authentic. It has a strong bitter taste, like the flavor of fresh matcha.
A lightly sweet roll cake with a hint of matcha for adults. It's a dish you'll want to savor slowly as you eat it.
By the way, I took it out to take the photo, but since the cream is soft, I recommend eating it with a spoon straight from the tray.
