Great value for money! A popular restaurant serving "volume and juicy" Kurume Yakitori
Hello. I'm Yuri and I love delicious food.
This time, we will introduce a yakitori restaurant in Kurume City.
A popular yakitori restaurant loved by locals: "Yatai King Direct Derived Charcoal Grilled Skewers Torihisa" (Kurume City)
"Yatai King Direct Sumibi Kushiyaki Torihisa" is located halfway between Nishitetsu Kurume Station and JR Kurume Station, about a 15-minute walk from each station.
It opened in November 2022, inheriting the flavor of Yatai King, a yakitori stall that has been loved in Kurume for many years (now closed).
Like "Yatai King," this is a restaurant loved by locals.
The shop has counter seats,
Tatami seating is available.
Enjoy the delicious yakitori, including the Kurume specialty "Darumu"!
It's well-known that Fukuoka Prefecture has a high number of yakitori restaurants per capita, and Kurume City is apparently an area with a particularly large number of them.
The specialty of Kurume's yakitori is "Darumu," pork innards. At this restaurant, you can enjoy a variety of hearty dishes, including "Darumu."
What we would like to introduce this time is the signature dish, the "Omakase 10-piece Set" (1,780 yen).
From the classics to the more unusual, there's pork belly, dalmu, chicken, meatballs (with okra sandwiched in between), pork wrapped in pickled ginger, and pork and tomato skewers!
It was about 1.5 times the size of the yakitori I had imagined and was very impressive!
This may be common in Fukuoka, but as someone who moved from outside the prefecture, one of my favorite things about it is that the spring onions between the meat are real onions instead of green onions.
All the dishes except for the meatballs are grilled with salt, so they are delicious with the homemade condiments that are served as an appetizer. The condiments change with the seasons, and on the day they were "pasteurized plum" and "chopped okra."
The meat on every skewer is juicy! The simple seasoning and irresistible aroma of the charcoal grill make you want to keep eating one after the other with a beer in hand.
Ten sticks cost 1,780 yen, so each stick costs less than 180 yen. With prices rising these days, it's great to be able to eat this much for this price! The menu conveys the owner's desire to "serve delicious food cheaply and fill you up."
Also check out the extensive a la carte menu
In addition to yakitori, the restaurant also offers a wide variety of a la carte dishes such as horse sashimi, fried dishes, grilled dishes, and overnight dried fish.
The signature dish, "Dalmu Stir-fried with Salt Sauce" (580 yen), is a must-try! It is a menu item that can only be found here.
Dalm has a fluffy texture and is gentle on the teeth. It doesn't have the problem of not being able to chew it no matter how much you chew it, which is common with horumon. Even children can eat it.
This is "Homemade fried chicken" (580 yen).
It's a pretty big piece of fried chicken.
Its size is immediately apparent when compared to the children's faces.
The batter is crispy and the meat is juicy ♡ It's seasoned with black pepper for a punchy dish!
I also had the "Torikyu Anhydrous Curry" (580 yen).
Keema curry is said to have been born from a staff meal.
The roux contains sour tomatoes, spinach, and other ingredients, giving it a unique flavor.
It has a slightly spicy aftertaste, but if you crumble the egg yolk and mix it in it becomes milder.
It was so delicious that I would want to come back just for that!
This is also a product that was originally created from a staff meal, "Torikyu Gapao Rice" (580 yen).
This is a stamina-boosting gapao rice dish with chives.
The peppery, spicy flavor is perfect for a hot summer day. It also goes well with beer.
And finally, finish off with dessert.
Although it is handmade by the owner, it is not on the menu and is actually offered as a complimentary service (the contents change depending on the day).
There are apparently many people who want to order it as takeaway, and after trying it, I was convinced - it was high quality and really delicious!
There is a wide variety of yakitori and non-yakitori dishes on the menu, and they are all delicious ♡ I was very satisfied with the value for money and the portions!
