[Nishijin Lunch] Specially selected rice makes it twice as delicious! A popular curry restaurant where you can customize your curry to your liking (Fukuoka City)

This time, we will introduce you to an excellent curry restaurant located in Nishijin, Sawara Ward, Fukuoka City.

"Rice and Curry" (Nishijin, Sawara Ward, Fukuoka City) is a curry specialty store that specializes in rice.

"Rice and Curry" is a popular restaurant that serves curry that only Japanese people can enjoy, using carefully selected domestic rice as the main ingredient.

It opened in September 2020 and moved in January 2024. It is currently renting space from the izakaya restaurant "Yakitori to Butakushi Ichigo" and is open only during lunch hours.

It is about a 5-minute walk from Nishijin Station on the Subway Kuko Line into Nishijin Shopping Street, and a 1-minute walk from our former store (5-4-14 Nishijin, Sawara Ward, Fukuoka City).

The "Rice and Curry" menu consists of four dishes: "Keema and Beef Curry" (1,080 yen), "Spicy Chicken and Keema" (1,180 yen), "Rice and Beef Curry" (880 yen), and "White Natto" (980 yen).

A major feature of this dish is that you can then fill out a "Custom Order Sheet" to choose additional toppings (for an extra charge), additional spices, adjust the spiciness, select the type and amount of rice, whether or not to add toppings (freshly shaved bonito flakes from Makurazaki and chopped spring onions from Fukuoka Prefecture) and the amount, whether or not to add accents (fried onions or garlic chips), whether or not to have a palate cleanser (homemade fukujinzuke or mustard takana), and whether or not to have dessert ice cream (for an extra charge), to customize your meal to your liking.

The type of rice changes every month. They carefully select the type that goes well with curry. On this day, I was able to choose between "Hinohikari" from Fukuoka Prefecture and "Kinumusume" from Shimane Prefecture. It's nice that you can get a large portion for free!

On this day, I ordered "Keema and Beef Curry" and "Spicy Chicken and Keema."

The signature dish "Keema and Beef Curry" allows you to enjoy our proud curries all at once.

This beef curry is simmered for a week, bringing out the full flavor, savory taste, and sweetness of the beef!

The Japanese toppings, such as chopped green onions and freshly shaved bonito flakes, give it a nostalgic taste.

The keema is just the right amount of spicy, and you can taste the sweetness of the minced meat.

There are many curries that are paired with indica saffron rice, but this curry goes perfectly with the stickiness of domestically grown rice!

It is made to bring out the best in the rice, the main ingredient, and you can really feel the love that goes into rice.

Each dish is delicious, but when you mix the keema curry and beef curry together, it tastes twice as good!

The irresistible "Spicy Chicken and Keema" is also a must-try.

In stark contrast to beef, it's very ethnic and spicy.

The two chicken wings, simmered until tender, are absolutely delicious.

Perhaps because I ordered it spicy, it was quite spicy, but if you crack the egg yolk in the middle and mix it in, it becomes milder.

Personally, I was totally hooked on this dish.

I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes curry.
