
A new type of lunch that's worth lining up for! A new type of restaurant at the popular tofu izakaya in Nishinakasu (Watanabedori, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City)

This time, we will introduce a restaurant that has been a hot topic since its opening on March 28, 2024, where you can enjoy lunch made with homemade tofu and soy milk!
An old-style Japanese-style restaurant tucked away in an alley! A new concept for the popular tofu izakaya restaurant "Mihara Tofu Annex" (Watanabedori, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)
About a 4-minute walk from Watanabedori Station on the Nanakuma Subway Line, "Mihara Tofu Annex" opened next to "Nabebata Shinkawabashi" on the alley behind "Sakura Juji Hospital" along Watanabedori.
This is a new type of business run by Mihara Foods, a manufacturer of tofu and soy milk in Kashima City, Saga Prefecture, and is the latest venture from Mihara Tofu Shop, a popular creative izakaya in Nishinakasu that focuses on tofu.
With the theme of "Put joy into your body," you can enjoy udon and freshly fried tofu at lunchtime in the restaurant, and in the evening, you can enjoy a wide range of dishes from the Mihara Tofu Shop's standard menu to annex-exclusive menu items.

The shop is located at the end of a narrow alley and has a hidden away atmosphere.
The restaurant has been renovated from an old house, creating a relaxing atmosphere that makes you feel like you're back home, making you want to linger for a while.

A popular set meal that will definitely have you lining up! Whole tofu "Toumeshi" and freshly fried "Silky tofu with minced meat sauce"
This time we will introduce a popular lunch menu that often has people lining up.
The menu includes two "set meals" and two "fudon" dishes made with soy milk broth. These dishes allow you to savour the luxury of tofu and soy milk made in their own factory in Saga Prefecture.
First, I'll introduce two types of set meals. Both are limited in quantity.
This is "Toumeshi (Tofu rice bowl with shredded sea bream)" (1,500 yen). It comes with "Fudon (small)" and soybean pulp potato salad.

"Toumeshi" consists of a whole block of tofu and plenty of shredded sea bream on top of rice.
The dishes are Arita ware and apparently original.

The tofu was slowly simmered in fish stock, so it was infused with the flavor of the broth.

The mellow, creamy flavor of the tofu goes perfectly with the sweet and spicy broth.

The rice underneath was topped with shiso leaves, which added an extra flavour.
The "shredded sea bream meat," made by shredding the meat attached to the bones, was packed with flavor and had the same sweet and spicy taste as the toumeshi.

It comes with a side of black shichimi pepper, so you can change the flavor to your liking.

Starting May 14th, 2024, the fudon will change to "Chilled Burdock Fudon (small)" and will also come with an "Iced Tofu Chocolate Assortment of Two Kinds."
This is "Silky fried tofu with minced meat sauce" (1,500 yen). It comes with rice, miso soup, and okara potato salad.

The tofu is fried quickly at high temperature after the order is placed, giving it an irresistible crispy, juicy exterior and chewy inside.

The generous filling contains minced meat and black garlic, and the slightly spicy taste is addictively delicious.

It also comes with a separate serving of "okara oil" made from okara and chili oil.

"Fudon" with homemade soy milk soup
Next, we will introduce "Fudon," a udon noodle dish made with soy milk broth.
I had the "Deep-fried lotus root udon" (890 yen). The toppings change with the seasons, and from May 14th they've been serving burdock tempura.

The soup is a combination of mackerel stock and homemade soy milk.
The slightly unusual flavor of mackerel stock becomes easy to eat and has a mild taste when combined with soy milk.

The deep-fried lotus root topping had a nice crunchy texture.

The noodles are specially made by Udon-ya Kamawan, a udon izakaya in Haruyoshi, to match the soy milk soup.
It was smooth and easy to swallow. The richness of the soup and the flavor of the lotus root went well with the noodles and were delicious.

The other is "Spice Curry Fudon" (1,100 yen).
The fudon comes with condiments of green chili peppers and sesame seeds, so you can change the flavor whenever you like.

Lunch reservations cannot be made, so we recommend arriving early.
