Popular local gourmet foods assemble! "National Delicious Food Competition" held (Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin store)

Introducing information on noteworthy events in Fukuoka!

This time, it's a food event in Tenjin where you can enjoy local gourmet food from all over Japan.

[May 8th-13th, 2024] The 39th National Delicious Food Festival will be held at Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin Store.

The National Delicious Food Festival will be held at the event hall on the 8th floor of the main building of Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin Store from Wednesday, May 8th to Monday, May 13th, 2024. This is the 39th year for this extremely popular event.

The venue will feature a wide selection of delicious gourmet food from 55 stores across 26 prefectures across Japan, including local delicacies that have tourists and locals lining up to get, and adorable, gorgeous-looking sweets!

In addition to hugely popular stores such as "551HORAI" and "Akafuku," which draw huge lines every time the event is held, 11 brands will be participating for the first time.

We will introduce some of the featured products.

551HORAI in Osaka - A queue is inevitable

"551HORAI", selling Osaka's specialty "pork buns", will be coming!

The main ingredients, pork and onion, are diced to create texture. The sweet onion and juicy pork create an exquisite harmony in your mouth. The ingredients are further enhanced by wrapping them in a slightly sweet dough. The craftsmen will hand-wrap each one at the venue with lots of love.

The second most popular item after the "Pork Buns" is the "Shumai" (6 pieces for 450 yen, 10 pieces for 750 yen). Made with simple ingredients such as pork and onion, it is full of flavor. The fluffy and soft texture is irresistible.

Other items on offer include "Gyoza" filled with crunchy vegetables (360 yen for 10 pieces, 540 yen for 15 pieces), "Shrimp Shumai" filled with plump shrimp (660 yen for 12 pieces, 1,100 yen for 20 pieces), and a combination of popular items called the "Recommended B Set (6 pork buns, 10 shumai, 15 fried gyoza)" (photo below, 2,550 yen).

This time, in order to alleviate crowding, you can receive your numbered ticket via LINE from home, so be sure to check the Daimaru website first.

Queues are inevitable [Mie] Akafuku

"Akafuku" is also a very popular item every time.

In addition to the specialty "Akafuku Mochi" (12 pieces for 1,300 yen), which consists of soft mochi topped with sweet bean paste, there is also the "Shiromochi Kuromochi" (8 pieces for 1,100 yen), a set of black mochi with a simple brown sugar flavor and white mochi filled with the purity of white azuki bean paste.

To purchase "Akafuku Mochi" and "Shiromochi Kuromochi", tickets to confirm the quantity you wish to purchase will be distributed from 10:00 a.m. on the north side of the first floor of the main building, so don't forget to pick one up.
*Please note that purchase times will be designated to reduce congestion in the building.

In addition to rice cakes, other products include "Akafuku Zenzai" (700 yen) and "Okage Inu Sable" (1,000 yen for a pack of six).

Brands appearing for the first time at the "Tasty Food Competition"

[Nagasaki] Tsushima Soy Sauce Eguchi

"Tsushima Anago Rice" (2,160 yen) by "Tsushima Soy Sauce Eguchi," the only soy sauce store in Tsushima, Nagasaki Prefecture, founded in 1887.

They use only natural conger eels from Tsushima, Nagasaki Prefecture. The fatty, meaty, and fluffy conger eels are grilled with plenty of secret sauce.

[Tokyo] Teppanyaki Gyusan

"Teppanyaki Gyusan" sells the "Gyusan Steak Bento" (3,240 yen).

Tender red meat cooked rare for its most delicious taste and served with homemade Chaliapin sauce.

You can feel the luxurious deliciousness of the meat! There are only 30 pieces per day, so if you're interested, be sure to get yours soon.

[Fukui] RUNNY CHEESE

The "Hantei Butter Cheese Sandwich" (480 yen each, 2,700 yen for an assortment of five varieties) made by "RUNNY CHEESE," a cheese specialty store in Fukui Prefecture, is very impressive!

Sandwiched between the cheese cookies are Fukui's specialty "Hantei Mochi" from Muranaka Kansendo, premium butter cream made with fresh butter, and various flavored ingredients and bean paste.

The various ingredients melt in your mouth in perfect balance, creating an elegant taste! The change in texture is also enjoyable, making this a very special dish that is very satisfying to eat.

There are five flavors: "Hantai Chocolate Butter Cheese Sandwich," "Hantai Strawberry Butter Cheese Sandwich," "Hantai Mont Blanc Butter Cheese Sandwich," "Hantai Pistachio Butter Cheese Sandwich," and "Hantai Bean Paste Butter Cheese Sandwich."

[Hyogo] Raison d'etre

Raison d'Etre is a popular lemon cake specialty store with its main store in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, and currently has 15 stores nationwide.

The "Exquisite Lemon Cake" (450 yen each) uses a minimal amount of flour and is mixed with plenty of butter, eggs, and lemons from the Seto Inland Sea.

It has a moist texture and the lemon flavor fills your mouth.

It's super chewy when eaten chilled. It's also recommended to cut it into thin slices and eat it like yokan.

[Osaka] Kasho Sora

Kasho Sora will be releasing the Milk Choux (450 yen).

The chewy choux pastry is filled with a generous amount of lightly sweet condensed milk cream.

It's simple, yet has a taste you'll never tire of. You can also change the flavor by adding the caramel sauce that comes with it.

[Kyoto] Tamba Imoyoshi

The highlight of "Tamba Imoyoshi" is the "Thinly Sliced Imo Kenpi" (100g, 864 yen), which uses Beni Haruka sweet potatoes from Tamba, Kyoto.

This method makes use of the natural sweetness of the potato without adding any unnecessary sweetness.

The shop demonstrates how the product is sliced into thin strips and fried right in front of the store, so you can enjoy the crunchy texture.

It's sure to be a great experience! Local gourmet experience

At this year's "National Gourmet Convention," an experiential local gourmet dish (drink) will be on display: the "mandarin orange juice tap," which is popular at Matsuyama Airport and shopping facilities and product halls throughout Ehime Prefecture!

This dreamlike experience is sure to excite anyone, even those who aren't children.
