What we would like to introduce to you today is a relaxing, hideaway-like cafe that opened in Susaki, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

A quiet cafe and bar "88 is near" (Susaki, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City) with a wide selection of international goods and alcohol!

"88 is near" is located about a 6-minute walk from Nakasu-Kawabata Station on the Subway Kuko Line or Hakozaki Line, down an alley just off Showa-dori.

If coming from Showa-dori, go straight under the signs for "Oiyamakasa mawarido" and "Susaki wholesale district" next to "Ishimura Manseido main store", then turn left at the second corner and it is located at the end.

The owner, who previously ran an architectural design office here, opened this cafe with the idea of "creating a space where both he and his customers can enjoy coffee."

Although it's located near Nakasu-Kawabata Station, it's a little away from the main road so the surrounding area is quiet. Coupled with the small space with only a few counter seats, you can spend your time relaxing and enjoying the restaurant.

The Cafe is open from 8:30 to 15:30 and serves original blend coffee (take-out available), while the Bar is open from 19:00 to 21:00 and serves draft craft beer and alcoholic beverages from around the world (alcoholic drinks are also available during cafe time).

It's also fun to look at the miscellaneous goods that the owner has purchased from various countries when he has traveled abroad, lined up in one corner of the store! Some of them are even available for purchase.

There is a design and architectural office at the back of the store, where the owners sometimes work. It was exciting to see people working, something you don't usually get to see.

Enjoy Amami Oshima coffee and Itoshima draft craft beer

This time, I visited during cafe time.

The whole shop is filled with the delicious aroma of coffee♪ This is a carefully crafted original blend coffee roasted at "14hikaricoffee" on Amami Oshima.

This time I tried the seasonal "Special Lemon Squash" (440 yen).

This was a popular menu item at a cafe that previously operated in Ijiri, Minami Ward, and it had a refreshing taste and sweetness that retained the flavor of lemon pulp.

Another feature of "88 is near" is that you can enjoy a drink at your leisure from cafe time onwards.

The highlight is two types of draft craft beer brewed at IB BREWING in Itoshima!

Once a barrel is depleted, it will be replaced with a different barrel, so you can always find a different beer depending on the timing.

In addition to draft craft beer, the bar also stocks rare gins and whiskeys from around the world that the owner himself has sourced himself from various countries.

Limited to one group per day! Stay-over service also planned to start

In addition to the cafe and bar, the "STAY" business will also begin soon.

If you go up the stairs at the back, the second and third floors are the accommodation facilities, and both floors can be rented out as a whole for one group per day (up to six people).

We had the privilege of being given a special look at the space, which was stylishly decorated in white with sunlight streaming in, and seemed very comfortable.
