A wide selection of cream-filled pies! "Great for gifts!" A new and popular shop near Hirao Station (Takamiya, Minami Ward, Fukuoka City)
Hello♪ I'm chippachapus and I love going to cafes.
This time, we will introduce a pie specialty store that will have its grand opening on March 28, 2024 (pre-opening on March 24th and 25th)!
The rows of pies are a sight to behold! Newly opened pie specialty store "Onomatopée" (Takamiya, Minami Ward, Fukuoka City)
"Onomatopée", a baked pie and sweets shop, will open in Takamiya, Minami-ku, Fukuoka, about a five-minute walk from Nishitetsu Hirao Station. At the time of its grand opening, it will only be open for take-out sales.
The shop's name, "onomatopée," means an onomatopoeic word that describes the state, movement, or sound of something. The owner chose the name because he wanted to convey the sense of happiness felt when eating sweets through sound and shape.
The theme color is the traditional French color "liere," and the exterior is green, which is a reference to that color.
There were trees and plants along the corridor leading to the entrance, which matched the atmosphere of the shop.
When you enter the store, you'll be mesmerized by the rows of pies lined up on the counter.
It's an open kitchen, so you can see the pies being made and enjoy the live experience.
On display is their signature product, "King Cream Pie."
There are two sizes available: regular size (photo left) and king size (photo right), which are larger than the palm of your hand; there are eight varieties of each (for a while after the grand opening, only five carefully selected varieties will be on sale).
There are three tables and ten chairs (Vincent chairs) at the back of the store which can be used as free space (not available during the pre-opening on March 24th and 25th).
It's a luxurious space where you can relax and unwind. Although the timing has not been decided yet, they plan to open for eat-in service in the future.
"King Cream Pie" with plenty of homemade cream and a crunchy texture
The pie crust of King Cream Pie is made with a generous amount of butter and is caramelized on both sides, making it so crispy that it crumbles with just the slightest touch.
The pie is filled with plenty of homemade custard cream that is made every morning.
The flavor of the cream varies depending on the type, but they all have a custard base.
One of the store's special touches is the finishing touch of a "sealing chocolate" with the store's logo.
It was so cute that it was a shame to eat it.
Great as a gift! A taste review of all 8 types of "King Cream Pie"
For the time being, only five carefully selected flavors will be on sale (plain, custard brûlée, pistachio, strawberry mille-feuille, and premium Yame matcha), but in this article we will introduce all eight types of pies.
1: Plain (Regular size 550 yen each, King size 1,000 yen each)
The "Plain" version allows you to simply enjoy the deliciousness of the pie and cream. The smooth, milky sweetness of the cream goes perfectly with the fragrant taste of the pie.
The moment you bite into it, the cream oozes out and fills your mouth, it's irresistible.
2: Custard Brulee (Regular size 750 yen each, King size 1,400 yen each)
"Custard Brulee" is a pie filled with custard cream, topped with more custard cream, and bruleeed until golden brown.
The crisp texture and bitter taste of the crepe crepe added a nice accent to the taste.
3: Strawberry Mille-feuille (Regular size 750 yen each, King size 1,400 yen each)
The "Strawberry Mille-feuille" is made using a generous amount of "Amaou" strawberries from a strawberry farm in Itoshima, which the owner discovered after searching around for "strawberries that go well with pie."
Its defining feature is that it has an exquisite balance of Amaou strawberry concentration, sourness, and sweetness.
The pie was topped with strawberry chocolate, and its sweet and sour taste went perfectly with the smooth cream.
No matter where you eat it, you can enjoy the Amaou strawberries, and it feels just as luxurious as a cake.
4: Pistachio (Regular size 750 yen each, King size 1,400 yen each)
"Pistachio" uses plenty of high-quality Italian pistachios, and even just one bite allows you to enjoy the rich flavor of pistachio.
The surface of the pie is sprinkled with white chocolate and crushed pistachios.
The pistachio cream inside was rich yet creamy. I would definitely recommend this pie to anyone who loves pistachios.
5. Premium Yame Matcha (Regular size 650 yen each, King size 1,150 yen each)
"High-quality Yame Matcha" is made using carefully selected matcha from a farm in Yame, Fukuoka, and won the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award, the highest award at the National Tea Tasting Exhibition.
I loved the rich flavor, which allowed me to taste the tea leaves directly.
The five types mentioned above will be available from the grand opening. The following three types are scheduled to be released in the future.
6: Platinum Chocolat (Regular size 750 yen each, King size 1,400 yen each)
"Platinum Chocolat" uses high-quality chocolate from Valrhona, a French company, and is topped with a generous amount of original "pie chocolate."
It is also coated with chocolate underneath, making the unique texture of the chocolate pie and the richness of the chocolate a perfect match.
The cream inside had a gentle chocolate flavor, and the sweetness spread softly across my tongue.
7: Salted Caramel Nuts (Regular size 650 yen each, King size 1,150 yen each)
"Salted Caramel Nuts" is a cream made by combining homemade caramel cream with custard, accented with the fragrant taste and texture of almonds.
8: Lemon (Regular size 650 yen each, King size 1,150 yen each)
The "Lemon" flavor had a light lemony acidity and a refreshing taste.
They were all so delicious that I wanted to eat several.
It's perfect for yourself or as a gift!
We also recommend the "Napoleon Pie" which uses about eight Amaou strawberries from Itoshima!
There is also a "Napoleon Pie" that allows you to enjoy the luxurious taste of Amaou strawberries from Itoshima, so you can enjoy two different flavors. Both types will be available for takeout from the grand opening, along with the five other types of pies.
The first one is "Custard" (1,600 yen each).
It comes with homemade custard cream, Amaou strawberries, a fragrantly baked pie, and sliced almonds on the side.
The second is "Pistachio" (1,650 yen each).
The composition is the same as the "Custard", the cream is homemade pistachio cream and the side is topped with plenty of crushed pistachios.
Both cakes contained the equivalent of about eight Amaou strawberries, and the cream and pie really brought out the deliciousness of the Amaou strawberries.
In addition to the "King Cream Pie" and "Napoleon Pie" that will make you want to try every single one, baked goods carefully made by pastry chefs will also be on sale.
It's the kind of place you'll want to visit again and again. Please do drop by! (Text by chippachapus)
