[Tenjin Morning] A luxurious bowl of seafood that's worth waiting in line for! (Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)
Hello. This is Chihi Log, a casual website that provides information about Fukuoka, with a focus on gourmet food.
This time we will introduce the extremely popular Tenjin Morning Menu!
Very popular from early in the morning! Enjoy fresh seafood in the heart of Tenjin at "Donburi Izakaya Kisuimaru Tenjin Branch" (Tenjin, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City)
"Donburi Izakaya Kisuimaru Tenjin Branch" is located on the second basement floor of "Tenjin Solaria Stage". It is directly connected to Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station, so it is easily accessible.
This restaurant is well-known for its seafood and squid/mentaiko delivered every morning from places like the Nagahama Fresh Fish Market. What's more, when you order a set meal, you can eat as much squid/mentaiko as you want, and have unlimited refills of rice and miso soup!
I visited around 9:30 on a weekday to try the breakfast set, but there was already a waiting list of 13 groups, making it a huge success! This shows just how popular the restaurant is.
The restaurant has counter seats and table seats, making it easy for both single and multiple customers to dine in.
The atmosphere was like a fish market cafeteria, bustling with people and lively! We were also grateful for the attentive service from the staff.
Orders are placed using a touch panel.
It's worth lining up to eat! The "morning meal set" is sure to sell out
Breakfast set meals are available from 7:30 to 11:00 (last order 10:30). They may sell out before the last order, so we recommend coming early.
On this day, I ordered a new breakfast menu item and a standard dish.
Morning catch of egg and fatty tuna rice bowl
The new breakfast set menu, "Morning Big Catch Tamatoro Donburi" (1,790 yen), is a dish of six kinds of sashimi, plenty of tuna belly, and egg yolk served on top of hot rice. It also comes with all-you-can-eat "squid and cod roe," sea bream fish bone soup, and pickles.
Kisuimaru's specialty, squid and mentaiko, is a delicious dish that goes well with rice, combining the transparent flavor of squid with the savory, spicy accent of mentaiko.
The bowl that day contained yellowtail, sea bream, salmon, squid and cod roe, flying fish roe, and egg. Apparently the fish can also be Spanish mackerel or flounder!
In the center was a mixture of tuna belly and other sashimi.
The fatty seafood melts in your mouth and is so delicious your jaw will drop! It's no wonder people line up to get their hands on this dish.
It's delicious when mixed with squid and cod roe, but it's also great with homemade sesame sauce to add some flavor.
The secret sesame sauce, made using Munakata soy sauce, further enhances the flavor of the seafood.
To finish off, pour in some "sea bream fish bone soup" from a kettle to make ochazuke.
When you pour the broth, which has a gentle flavor of sea bream, over a seafood bowl, it blends with the sesame sauce and seafood for an exquisite taste!
Large portions and refills of rice are also available for free, so it's perfect for those who want to eat their fill.
It was a fantastic bowl of rice that I would like to return to immediately.
You can also enjoy the "Morning Seafood Tamatoro Rice Bowl" (1,290 yen), a seafood bowl made with fresh seafood and tuna belly.
Morning sashimi set meal
Another popular breakfast set is the "Morning Sashimi Set" (950 yen).
The set comes with three types of sashimi of the day, a small bowl, squid and cod roe, rice, miso soup, and takana leaf.
The three types of sashimi on offer that day were salmon, sea bream, and yellowtail.
Of course, you can eat as much squid and mentaiko as you like.
You can also eat as much takana (leaf mustard greens) as you like from the table. There are so many side dishes to go with your rice, it's so delicious!
You can have free refills of rice. You can choose from small, regular, or large portions. I chose the regular portion this time.
The rice produced in Kyushu is fluffy and glossy! You'll find yourself eating it without even realizing it.
Refills of miso soup are free. It is made with a bonito and dried sardine stock, and a blend of rice and barley miso.
They make each cup individually, so you can smell the delicious aroma of freshly made coffee.
The side dish for this day was kinpira burdock. It was a very satisfying meal with plenty of side dishes that went perfectly with rice!
Why not start your day off right with a luxurious breakfast set that will lift your spirits?
It's a popular restaurant, so be sure to get there early. (Text by CHIHIRO)
