The voluminous tempura is popular! A delicious udon restaurant known only to those in the know (Mitsusemura, Saga City)

Hello. I'm Yuri and I love going out with my kids.

This time, I'd like to introduce you to a famous udon restaurant in Saga City that was unanimously praised by my family.

I really want to keep it a secret! The hidden gem "Hinokiya Udon" (Saga City)

Hinokiya Udon is located along National Route 263 in Mitsuse Village, Saga City, which connects to Sawara Ward, Fukuoka City.

You will see it if you go a little further after passing through the Mise Tunnel toll road.

The udon, soba, and tempura are popular and delicious, and the restaurant is crowded with customers every day.

On weekdays, the shop is run by a husband and wife, and closes at 3pm. If you're planning on visiting, we recommend visiting on weekends or holidays, when it's open until 5pm. "Please note that we may close early if we run out of ingredients," they said.

It takes time to prepare delicious food, so please make sure you have the time and patience to come here.

The restaurant has table seating, counter seating, and tatami seating.

Another great thing about this place is that it has an easy atmosphere for groups and families with children.

In addition to the a la carte menu, such as the shop's recommended "Vegetable Tempura Udon (or Soba)" (930 yen), there are also sets such as the "Udon (or Soba) Set Meal" (950 yen) which comes with rice, salad, two side dishes and pickles, the "Vegetable Tempura Gozen" (1,250 yen) which includes "Vegetable Tempura Udon (or Soba)" with rice balls, tofu, a side dish and fruit, and the cold "Zaru Soba (or Udon) Set" (1,500 yen) made with homemade noodles.

A hearty meal at a bargain price of 1,250 yen! The delicious "Vegetable Tempura Gozen"

This time I ordered the "Vegetable Tempura Set" (1,250 yen). I had one warm udon and one warm soba set.

The set includes hot udon or soba noodles, assorted vegetable tempura, a choice of one rice ball from among kashiwa rice ball, inari, konnyaku sushi, or white rice ball, tofu, a small side dish, and fruit. You can also change to cold udon or soba noodles (1,500 yen each).

The first thing that catches your eye is the mountain of tempura, with a wide variety including green beans, lotus root, pumpkin, eggplant, shiso leaves, carrots, burdock, and shishito peppers!

Although it is quite filling, the batter is thin and has a light, crispy texture, so you'll find yourself eating it one after the other.

I would highly recommend this to anyone who doesn't get enough vegetables on a regular basis!

This is the udon noodles in the "Vegetable Tempura Gozen" meal.

The udon noodles are the standard soft udon noodles, and the light broth soaks into them.

It was a particularly cold day, so it warmed both my body and soul.

It had been several years since I had had soba noodles, but the moment I ate it, the delicious aroma of buckwheat flour spread and I felt a sense of nostalgia. I remembered eating it often in the Kanto region where I used to live.

The only big difference is that the broth is lighter. Kanto soba has a strong soy sauce flavor and looks black.

This may be true throughout Kyushu, but the dashi flavor is generally strong and the soy sauce has a mild taste, so you never get tired of eating it.

I was so engrossed in eating that I forgot to take pictures, but of course I drank it all up (lol)!

The "Kashiwa Onigiri" and "Inari" that I chose that day, as well as the small side dishes, all had been carefully prepared and tasted delicious!

It was a wonderful shop that made me feel warm and cozy, as if I was visiting my grandma's house in the countryside.

I also got a stamp card, so I'd like to use it regularly with my family from now on.

Please come and visit the place. (Text by Yuri-chan)
