Suitable for ages 3 and up! Fun for parents and children ♡ "Miso ball" making experience event full of dashi flavor (LaLaport Fukuoka)
Hello. I'm Yuri and I love going out with my kids.
This time, parents and children participated in a hands-on class held at Kuhara Honke Lalaport Fukuoka in Naka, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City.
"Kuhara Honke LaLaport Fukuoka Store" (Naka, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City) has about 300 products from all "Kuhara Honke" brands.
Kuhara Honke Lalaport Fukuoka store is located on the grounds of Mitsui Shopping Park Lalaport Fukuoka, which opened in April 2022.
It is located on the first floor of the Oval Building, the same building as the Fukuoka Toy Museum, and is very close to Oval Park.
Kuhara Honke is a general food manufacturer with its origins as a soy sauce brewery founded in 1893. They make high-quality foods and seasonings that make use of the delicious flavor of flying fish stock and deliver them all over Japan.
This store carries all the brands of the Kuhara Honke Group: "Shobouan," "Kayanoya," "Kubara," "Kayanoya Kojigura," and "Hokkaido Ai." There are a whopping 300 products in stock!
What's more, the store has a kitchen so you can sample all the products.
I tried the "Japanese style soup", "Western style soup", and "Chinese style soup"!
It's nice to be able to taste it before you buy it.
With a diverse product lineup, it is recommended not only for everyday use but also when looking for gifts.
Experience the "Children's Miso Ball Class" at the event space "Kuba Lab"!
The "Kubarahonke LaLaport Fukuoka store" also has an event space called "Kuba Lab."
Based on the concept of "making food memories," the facility hosts events that the whole family can enjoy, such as cooking classes and experience classes for children.
This time, I took my 6-year-old daughter to the "Children's Miso Ball Making Class" (1,100 yen per person / 60 minutes).
*Recommended age: 3 years old to 6th grade elementary school students (parental supervision is required *No participation fee for parents), masks are recommended (masks were removed for this photo shoot)
All you need to bring is an apron and a hand towel.
First, the staff will demonstrate how to make miso balls.
The demonstration is also shown on a monitor, so it's easy to follow and easy to watch.
Once you've watched and learned, it's time to start making the long-awaited miso balls!
First, put the miso and Kayanoya dashi in a bowl and mix well.
Then, divide it into 4 equal parts.
Then place it on top of the plastic wrap on the tray and top with toppings.
On the day we visited, carrots, corn, wakame seaweed, offal, and green onions were available. Feel free to mix and match!
There are also cute toppings such as heart-shaped cakes, so kids will have fun too ♡
Wrap it in plastic wrap and roll it into a ball, and your miso ball is done!
They look so cute and round, it's almost a shame to eat them!
But this event doesn't end until you have a proper meal.
Put the miso balls in a bowl, pour in hot water, and your miso soup is ready ♡ For the interview, rice was specially prepared for the soup. *Normally, rice is not provided.
The soup uses Kayanoya dashi, which is mainly made from flying fish stock, so you can really taste the aroma and flavor of the dashi. In addition, the amount of miso used is small, so you don't have to worry about salt!
The various flavors of the toppings and the richness of the miso made for a comforting taste.
I moved to Fukuoka two and a half years ago. Since I discovered the culture of ago dashi, it has completely captured my heart, but I have once again come to appreciate how delicious it is!
Agodashi has become such an indispensable part of our household that I feel like we can't live without it (laughs).
By the way, the furikake seasoning served with the rice was apparently made at a furikake-making experience class event. It was so delicious that I couldn't stop eating!
My daughter seemed to be quite addicted to it as well, and even asked for seconds of rice (lol)!
They don't sell the furikake, so next time I'd like to take part in a hands-on furikake-making class.
At the end, we were given a commemorative photo of the parent and child and a message card, which was heartwarming.
The day before the experience, my daughter declared, "I'll make it with love!" and was looking forward to it.
You can kill two birds with one stone by experiencing the fun of making it and the joy of tasting it! This is the ultimate food education!
It was a very meaningful time for me to see my daughter having fun.
It's perfect for creating lasting memories with your children.https://www.kubara.jp/oriori/kubalabo/Please make a reservation in advance from here and give it a try! By the way, the next miso ball making is scheduled for Sunday, March 3rd, and the furikake making is scheduled for Sunday, April 14th. (Text by Yuri-chan)
