[A hidden gem in Nakasu, Japan] A high-quality space where you can enjoy exquisite sweets and Japanese tea (Hakata-ku, Fukuoka city)
Hello! I'm Hakata Aya, a writer who loves hot information about Fukuoka.
This time, we will introduce you to some shops in Hakata Riverain Mall where you can enjoy exquisite sweets and delicious tea. If you love tea, this is a must-see!
A cafe space has been added after renovation! Hakata Riverain Mall "Hino Sabo" (Shimokawabata-cho, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City)
"Hino Sabo" is a specialty shop selling home-roasted roasted green tea and blended teas, located on the second basement floor of "Hakata Riverain Mall" in Shimokawabata-cho, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City. It is directly connected underground to Nakasu-Kawabata Station on the subway, so you can visit without getting wet in the rain.
It is scheduled to be renovated in November 2023, with a new cafe space being added.
Inside the store, there are a wide variety of tea leaves, including roasted green tea!
The standard product "Kikicha" is a popular daily tea at Hinosabo, made from a blend of 24 carefully selected ingredients. The photo below shows 20 bags of 15g each (1,431 yen).
"Koucha" uses various ingredients depending on the season. It is caffeine-free, so it is perfect for children or to drink before bed.
They use tea leaves from Yame and Shizuoka for their home-roasted hojicha. You can choose your favorite flavor, such as "dark roast," "light roast," or "stick hojicha."
If you're lucky, you might be able to see the roasting machine in the store! The delicious aroma of roasted green tea fills the air while it's roasting.
Currently, they are selling the spring-only "Sakura Hojicha" and "Sakura Green Tea."
The tea is made using candied cherry blossoms, and the steam gives off a faint cherry blossom scent. It has a subtle sweetness, and even after drinking it, you can still feel the aftertaste of cherry blossoms.
The cherry blossom-patterned box contains a set of "Sakura Hojicha" and "Sakura Green Tea," making it a great gift or for those who want to enjoy comparing the two.
Enjoy sweets made under the supervision of a former hotel pastry chef in the cafe space!
Proceeding further in, there is an eat-in cafe space. In a space where even the chairs and tableware have been carefully designed, you can enjoy authentic sweets overseen by a former hotel pastry chef along with tea.
This time I had the "Raspberry Sauce and Houjicha Parfait" (1,430 yen, drink included), which is only available for eat-in.
The elegant parfait is presented like a work of art. The dish is made of Arita ware, creating an even more luxurious atmosphere.
The rich flavor of roasted green tea ice cream and smooth fresh cream. The sweetness is subdued overall, and the sour raspberry sauce adds an accent to the flavor, making it very delicious!
This dish allows you to enjoy a variety of flavors and textures, including panna cotta, granola, and sponge, all at once.
Other sweet dishes include "Melting Houjicha Fondant Chocolate" (1,540 yen) and "Shiratama Cream Zenzai with Houjicha and Matcha" (1,210 yen). All menu items come with a drink set.
You can choose from drinks such as "Hojicha," "Ureshi no Kocha," "Koucha," "Sencha Kanoka," and "Seasonal Tea," and the tea will be brewed right in front of you.
"Hino Sabo" is a place where you can spend a luxurious time in a calm atmosphere. It is a place where you can easily enter alone, so it is perfect for stopping by during shopping. Please stop by. (Text by Hakata Aya.)
