Fluffy and creamy with plenty of burnt cheese ♡ An excellent okonomiyaki restaurant that is always full (Kikuchi City, Kumamoto Prefecture)

Hello. I'm Yuri and I love going out with my kids.

This time, we're heading to Kikuchi City, Kumamoto Prefecture!

I'd like to introduce you to an excellent okonomiyaki restaurant that my family has visited many times.

It's about an hour from central Fukuoka on the highway, so it's also recommended for a day trip.

Worth the trip! A teppanyaki specialty restaurant loved by locals, "Okonomiyaki and Teppanyaki Furutada Main Branch" (Kikuchi City, Kumamoto Prefecture)

Okonomiyaki and Teppanyaki Furutada Main Branch is located about 10 minutes by car from Ueki IC on the Kyushu Expressway.

Their fluffy and creamy okonomiyaki, made with a perfect balance of domestic wheat flour and yam, is a big hit. They also have a wide variety of teppanyaki dishes, including grilled offal, and are a popular restaurant that is always full no matter when you visit, day or night. We recommend making a reservation, especially on weekends!

The staff greets you with loud, cheerful voices, creating a lively atmosphere. This lively atmosphere is one of the factors that whets your appetite!

The shop has counter seats,

There are table seats available.

There are raised seating areas, so it's easy for families with children to come in.

There was also a large hall where a large group (about 20 people) could gather and have fun.

The ultimate fluffy and creamy okonomiyaki "Scorched Double Cheese Mix"

First, let us introduce Furuta's specialty, the Scorched Double Cheese Mix (1,265 yen).

We were able to watch the cooking process from across the counter, and it was truly impressive, with truly skilled craftsmanship!

As the name "double cheese" suggests, cheese is added to the dough and generously spread on the surface. What's more, the cheese on the surface is toasted with a burner to add a nice fragrant flavor!

The moment it was brought to my table, I was nearly knocked out by the aroma of the sauce (laughs).

The richness of the cheese is excellent. It's filled with plenty of ingredients such as shrimp and squid, and although it's quite large, it's easy to finish in no time.

It was a new type of okonomiyaki that was neither Kansai style nor Hiroshima style, and it was an unforgettable taste.

The "Scorched Double Cheese Modern Yaki" (1,298 yen) is also a must-try!

The noodles are quite thick and very filling!

This one also has plenty of cheese that has been charred over a burner.

It's fluffy and delicious.

It's sure to become addictive for both adults and children.

I thought both were so delicious that it would not be an exaggeration to say they are specialties of Kikuchi City.

Also pay attention to the carefully selected dishes!

This is "Stir-fried Offal with Garlic" (1,012 yen).

As the name suggests, the fragrant aroma of garlic soy sauce that hits you the moment it is brought to your table raises your expectations.

It's so filling you wouldn't believe it's a side dish!

When you push aside the large amount of bean sprouts and spring onions and take a bite of the innards soaked in plenty of sauce, you'll be surprised at how soft they are.

Some people may think, "I like horumon, but it's hard to chew and I have trouble swallowing it," but the horumon here has a fluffy texture that you don't even need to use your teeth to eat. It will change your perception of horumon.

The flavor is strong and punchy, so it goes well with rice and beer.

Everything was delicious and my family has become a big fan of "Furuta" ♡

It has become a favorite restaurant for the whole family, so much so that we want to make the effort to visit it.

If you are ever in the Kumamoto area, please be sure to stop by. (Text by Yuri-chan)
