[New spot in Dazaifu] Relax in a foot bath! A relaxing cafe you definitely want to stop by <Opening February 6th>
Hello! I'm Hakata Aya, a writer who loves hot information about Fukuoka.
The Dazaifu Tenmangu area is popular for its many photogenic spots. It's not just great for sightseeing, but it's also full of exciting gourmet spots and food for Fukuoka residents.
A cafe has opened in this area where you can enjoy sweets and light meals while relaxing in a foot bath!
Opening today, February 6th! "Kyuhaku Garden Footbath Teahouse" (Dazaifu City) where you can enjoy footbaths in the Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine area
Today, Tuesday, February 6th, 2024, the new "Kyushu National Museum Garden Footbath Teahouse" was opened adjacent to the terrace of the Kyushu National Museum's restaurant "Iinoji."
This is a healing spot where you can soothe your tired feet after a walk around the Dazaifu area in a foot bath while enjoying Kyushu's finest teas and sweets.
If you would like to use the "Kyuhaku Garden Footbath Teahouse," first enter "Iinoji" and complete the reception, then go outside through the door on your right.
As it is an outdoor facility, it may not be available in case of rain.
There are two types of set menus available at Kyushu National Museum Garden Footbath Teahouse.
The "Cafe Set" (all 1,800 yen) includes a foot bath (45 minutes) + a choice of light meal or dessert + your favorite drink + a foot bath towel.
The "Drink Set" (from 1,200 yen) includes a foot bath (45 minutes) + your choice of drink + foot bath towel.
The usage time is 45 minutes per group. Both set menus include the fee for the foot bath and rental towels, so you can go empty-handed, which is a nice plus.
The water temperature was about 40 degrees and was very comfortable.
It's quite deep, so I was able to warm up my calves thoroughly.
Enjoy a relaxing time with "Unagi rice ball" inspired by Hitsumabushi and a foot bath♪
The "Cafe Set" snack or dessert could be chosen from "Unagi Rice Ball," "Ashiyu Chaya Dango," or "Yame Matcha Warabimochi Zenzai."
This time I chose the "Eel Rice Ball" and the drink was "Yame Green Tea Gyokuro."
The "Unagi Rice Ball" is made in the image of "Hitsumabushi" and is a rice dish mixed with plenty of seasonings such as green onions, ginger, and shiso leaves. The chewy rice ball is well infused with flavor, and the taste of various seasonings is a nice accent.
It comes with a large, plump piece of eel on top, making it truly a luxurious dish.
"Yame Green Tea Gyokuro" is a style that you brew yourself from a teapot. It has a rich, mellow, sweet and refined taste that makes you feel very elegant.
You can choose to have your gyokuro hot or iced, and the iced version is delicious even at this time of year, as you can enjoy it whilst warming your feet in the footbath.
It was a very cold day, but just 10 minutes in the foot bath was enough to warm me up! Afterwards, I walked along the approach to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, and stayed warm the whole time.
Check out the menu at "Iinoji"
Since we're here, we'd like to introduce you to a few of Ii Noji's menu items.
In a Japanese atmosphere where you can feel the warmth of wood, you can enjoy meals such as the "Kyushu Kuroge Wagyu Beef Sukiyaki Set" (3,000 yen) and "Stone-grilled Eel Hitsumabushi Set" (2,700 yen), as well as sweets such as "Yame Matcha Masu Tiramisu" (750 yen) and "Warabi Mochi" (500 yen).
Currently, as a limited menu during the special exhibition, "Peony Hot Pot Set" (3,000 yen) and "Plum Cider" (720 yen) are being offered until the end of March 2024! Please check them out along with the "Footbath Teahouse".
When you visit the Kyushu National Museum, or when you visit Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, you should definitely drop by the Kyushu National Museum Garden Footbath Chaya. Why not relax and spend some time in a Japanese atmosphere while soothing your tired feet? (Text by Hakata Aya.)
