Hello. I'm Yuri and I love delicious food.
This time, we will introduce you to a stylish oyster bar located in Kyomachi, Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City.
A must-see oyster bar that only a few in the know will know about! "Henry Colonel." (Kyomachi, Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City) where you can enjoy carefully selected raw oysters from all over Japan
Henry Colonel is a hidden oyster bar located quietly about a six-minute walk from JR Kokura Station.
Open the door on the first floor and go up the stairs to the second floor.
Opened in August 2023, this is a must-visit restaurant for oyster lovers.
The restaurant is popular for its wide selection of delicious oysters from all over Japan, selected by the owner himself from all over the country, and is bustling with customers every day. The owner's love for oysters is simply wonderful ♡
The interior of the restaurant, which has yellow as an accent color, has table seats (13 seats) and counter seats (10 seats).
There's cool art on the walls.
It would also be a good place to go for a girls' night out or a date.
Juicy and plump♡A wide selection of delicious oysters from all over Japan!
First, let us introduce the signature dish, "Raw Oyster 15 pieces" (6,500 yen)!
There are 15 oysters lined up on one plate, which is quite an impressive sight. There is a sign indicating the region where the oysters are produced, so it's nice to learn that oysters are produced in a region like this.
This restaurant has an exclusive contract in Kitakyushu to serve oysters from Oonyujima, Saiki City, Oita Prefecture! They can only be eaten here!
There were also oysters from Tatsuno City, Hyogo Prefecture. The Seto Inland Sea is known as the holy land of oysters, boasting the sweetest taste in the area, and one bite will have your cheeks dropping.
"Maruemon" oysters from Akkeshi Town, Hokkaido are farmed to be as round as possible, at the insistence of a famous producer in the industry.
By the way, the brand name "Maruemon" is said to embody the dream of "making it even more round in the future."
The owner of "Shirokuma Oysters" in Yubetsu, Hokkaido, visited Hokkaido and brought oysters that were originally only distributed within Hokkaido to Kitakyushu. As this is the first wholesale in Kyushu, this is the only place in Kyushu where you can eat them!
Oysters from Oita and Hyogo can be enjoyed all year round, but the two types from Hokkaido are seasonal and only available during the winter. If you want to try oysters from Hokkaido, be sure to get there early.
There are three types of sauce: ponzu, shiso leaf-based, and ceviche.
Another recommendation from the shop is Tabasco, which goes really well with the dish.
Personally, I thought the shiso-based sauce with its refreshing sourness was the best.
*Kissing the shells is prohibited. Please eat oysters with a fork made specifically for them.
Full of oysters! Check out the extensive side menu
In addition to raw oysters, we also have a wide selection of side dishes.
This is "Oyster and Bacon Gratin" (720 yen).
A hot gratin with large oysters and crunchy cheese all in one. A dish you'll want to eat during the cold winter.
It's a flavor that everyone, from adults to children, will love. You're sure to be very satisfied.
The "3 Hiroshima fried oysters" (990 yen) is also a must-try!
It's served on an oyster shell. So cute!
It was perfectly cooked and had the lightest texture I have ever had. Delicious!
If you want to try something other than oysters, try the "Shrimp and Seasonal Vegetable Tomato Cream Pasta" (1,630 yen).
A luxurious dish topped with plenty of shrimp and broccoli. The appeal of this restaurant is not just oysters.
For the final dish, we recommend the "Oyster and Mushroom Cream Risotto (1,410 yen)"!
The oysters in the middle are simmered in broth, so the sweetness and flavor are concentrated and it's delicious! It goes perfectly with the risotto.
Everything was so delicious and filled my stomach and my heart.
