Fluffy, chewy dough topped with plenty of pure fresh cream! A fresh cream donut specialty store open only on weekends (Fukuoka City)
Hello. This is the Daily Bread Diary.
Recently, there has been a "donut boom" and donuts are no longer just lined up in bakeries, but it is no longer uncommon to even find them in specialty shops!
This time, we will introduce you to a shop that specializes in fresh cream donuts and is only open on weekends.
Opening on weekends only in rented space! Fresh cream donut specialty store "FRI-YAY" (Nishijin, Sawara-ku, Fukuoka City and Meihama, Nishi-ku)
FRI-YAY is a take-out fresh cream donut specialty store that opened in spring 2023.
We sell wholesome donuts that are completely handmade using carefully selected ingredients such as domestic wheat and pure fresh cream, and are free of preservatives and colorings.
Currently, the store is renting space and is only open on weekends (10:00-16:00, closes when sold out).
On Fridays and Saturdays, we are open at "Sumibi Yakitori Kabuki" in Nishijin, Sawara-ku, Fukuoka City (about a 2-minute walk from Exit 4 of Nishijin Station on the Subway Airport Line), and on Sundays, we are open at "Yakiniku Kawano Shoten" in the south of Meihama Station, Nishi-ku, Fukuoka City (about a 3-minute walk from the south exit of Meihama Station on the Subway Airport Line). Both stores are open on the porch, so they will be closed in bad weather.
This time, I went to Nishijin. The red umbrellas and the rows of donuts in front of the store entrance are the landmarks.
There are two types of simple donuts: "Sugar" (190 yen each) and "Cane Sugar" (190 yen each).
There are also "fresh cream donuts" with a variety of combinations of fillings, including custard, chocolate, and bean paste.
The expiration date for all donuts is one day.
Reservations available! Freshly squeezed cream donuts
The fresh cream donuts are served "freshly squeezed," with the cream squeezed after the order is placed.
If you are ordering multiple items, we recommend that you make a reservation (you can do this via DM on Instagram). If you make a reservation, you won't have to worry about not being able to buy the item because it has sold out.
Try the seasonal "Strawberry Custard" and the classic "Red Bean Jam"!
This time, I bought two fresh cream donuts.
On the left is the seasonal limited edition "Strawberry Custard" (480 yen), which will be on sale until around May, and on the right is the regular product "Red Bean Paste" (360 yen).
Both are made with domestic wheat and butter, and feature a fluffy and chewy dough topped with plenty of rich, flavorful pure fresh cream with a hint of organic vanilla.
The "Strawberry Custard" is made with domestic strawberries and has a smooth custard cream with a rich egg flavor, while the "Red Bean Paste" is made with homemade red bean paste that has a rich soy flavor. Both are delicious because of the high quality of the ingredients.
Treat yourself on the weekend. Treat your family. How about a doughnut filled with pure fresh cream? (Text by Mainichi Pan Nikki)
