[MUJI] Just heat it up and you'll have an authentic dish! 4 items from the "Noodle Spice Series"

Hello, I'm Nagisa, a storage and organization advisor. I live with my husband (who is currently working away from home) and two boys (ages 7 and 10). We live in a 3LDK apartment, and on Instagram I share ideas and information on living simply with the things I love.

MUJI's "Noodle Spice Series" allows you to easily enjoy authentic flavors. This time, we will introduce four flavors from the wide variety available that are perfect for the cold season.

The "Noodle Topping Series" is very easy to make!

The "Noodle Spice Series" can be cooked in the microwave or in a hot water bath. In my house, I cooked it in a hot water bath.

All you have to do is boil the noodles in a pot next to it while the soup is boiling.

Once the noodles are boiled, all you have to do is pour the soup over them, so it's very easy to make.

Adding condiments such as spring onions will make it look more authentic.

1: Full of spices! "Beef tendon curry soup for noodles"

First up is the "Beef Tendon Curry Soup to Pour Over Noodles" (250g per serving, 350 yen).

This is a fragrant curry soup packed with the delicious flavor of dashi.

It's packed with ingredients such as tender beef tendons and fried tofu, making it very filling!

The thoroughly simmered beef tendons are incredibly tender and melt-in-your-mouth, and the deep-fried tofu is soaked in flavor, and the more you chew it, the more delicious it becomes.

The bag says "Spicy level 3," but it's just the right amount of spicy and easy to eat. The aroma and flavor of the authentic spices is so good you wouldn't believe it was a retort pack. At the end, I even wanted to add some rice to it.

2: Spicy and addictive! "White sesame dandan sauce for noodles"

This is the "White Sesame Dandan Sauce to Put on Noodles" (140g per serving, 350 yen).

This dandan sauce has a fragrant aroma of Chinese pepper and white sesame the moment you open the bag.

It is packed with ingredients such as bamboo shoots, peanuts, and pork, and the thick sauce coats the noodles well.

The ingredients have a nice chewy texture, making it very satisfying to eat!

It's rated "spiciness level 4" and has a strong chilli pepper spiciness, but the refreshing flavour of the Japanese pepper and the rich taste of the sauce will have you eating more and more.

It was an authentic dish that felt like eating dandan noodles from a restaurant, which would be difficult to recreate at home.

3: Creamy and rich! "Mentaiko cream soup to pour over noodles"

This is "Mentaiko cream soup to pour over noodles" (180g per serving, 320 yen).

The Japanese-style soup is made by combining gently sweet white soy sauce with flavorful dashi made from ingredients such as kelp and bonito flakes, resulting in a rich yet light flavor.

Add in some fresh cream and Spicy Fish Eggs for an accent, and everything comes together perfectly.

The mellow and creamy soup mixed perfectly with the noodles, and I was so engrossed in eating it all the way to the very last bite!

This time I topped it with spring onions, but it would also be delicious with seaweed or Spicy Fish Eggs.

4. The perfect balance of flavor and broth! "Miso-boiled udon soup to pour over noodles"

Lastly, here is the "Miso Stewed Udon Soup to Pour Over Noodles" (250g per serving, 350 yen).

This authentic tasting soup uses Hatcho miso and is modelled on the flavour of Aichi Prefecture's local cuisine.

The rich soup is made from a combination of Hatcho miso, which has a subtle sourness and astringency, bonito flakes, and "murobushi," a type of fish commonly used in the Nagoya area, made from horse mackerel, and is filled with plenty of green onions and meat.

The ingredients are thoroughly simmered in the soup until they are soft and melt in your mouth.

I thought the flavor of Hatcho miso would be strong, but when I actually tried it, it was packed with the umami of the miso and was easy to eat. Adding egg yolk as a topping also makes it even more mellow.

It's also nice that even people from areas where Hatcho miso isn't very familiar can enjoy it casually as if they're on a trip.

It's great that you can easily enjoy dishes that would be time-consuming to make at home with the "Noodles Series"! Please try it out when you're busy or struggling with your daily menu. (Text by Nagisa)
