Costco expert Kosuko's carefully selected 5 "surefire gourmet foods" recommended for the year-end and New Year holidays

Hello! I'm Kosuko, a housewife who loves the members-only warehouse store Costco.

In December, Costco will have lots of items for the holiday season.

The food section in particular has many new products that look gorgeous and use even more luxurious ingredients than usual, making them perfect for parties! There are so many attractive products that it's hard to decide which one to choose.

So, this time we will introduce 5 recommended gourmet foods that are sure to be a hit over the New Year holidays.

A limited-time special version of the popular gourmet dish! "Roast Beef High Roller"

This is the limited-edition "Roast Beef High Roller" (340 yen/100g), which appears every year as Christmas and the end of the year approaches.

The ever-popular "High Roller (B.L.T.)", which is sold year-round, consists of bacon, lettuce, and tomato-based ingredients wrapped in a tortilla and cut into bite-sized rings, but only until the end of December will they be selling the "Roast Beef High Roller", which, as the name suggests, is filled with plenty of roast beef.

The standard "High Roller (B.L.T.)" contains 21 pieces, while this one contains only 14. The price is a little higher than the regular version, but the ingredients are more luxurious!

This limited edition High Roller is not exactly the same every year, with the seasoning and fillings changing slightly. The 2023 version has buffalo mozzarella cheese added to the center.

This is so delicious!

The roast beef is thinly sliced and layered, making it soft, chewy, and easy to eat, while allowing you to fully enjoy the flavor of the lean meat.

The buffalo mozzarella cheese has a milky texture, a smooth mouthfeel, and a rich flavor that is perfectly balanced with the red meat. It's a perfect combination!

Of course you can eat it as it is, but we also recommend the "Grilled High Roller" which is toasted in a toaster until golden brown. By cooking it, the aroma of the meat is enhanced, and the mozzarella cheese melts and blends well with the roast beef, creating a more unified flavor.

Before grilling, High Rollers are eaten like hors d'oeuvres or salads, but grilling them transforms them into a full meal. Both are delicious, so we recommend them for changing up your taste!

The large ingredients and sauce are delicious! The popular and easy-to-prepare "Seafood Ajillo"

A large container filled with large pieces of seafood and vegetables! "Seafood Ajillo" (268 yen/100g) is a popular Costco product that allows you to easily make delicious ajillo by simply simmering the ingredients with the included olive oil and garlic.

It's packed with seafood such as Pacific cod, scallops, and shrimp, as well as large mushrooms, shimeji mushrooms, onions, and colorful peppers, weighing in at a generous 1kg! It's gorgeous and gorgeous just to look at, so it's perfect for party food, especially when you're gathering together.

The oil sauce is mixed with the plentiful extracts from the various ingredients, which then soak into each and every ingredient, making it incredibly juicy and delicious! It's a very filling dish, but each ingredient has a different taste and texture, so you won't get bored of it until the very end.

When you think of ajillo, you think of it as a wine snack! However, this is not too salty and is a dish that allows you to enjoy the deliciousness of seafood, so even if it is not a drinking party dish, you can eat it heartily with a fork in one hand as a dinner dish. It is also easy to prepare.

By the way, the olive oil that comes with the pot is divided into two cases, so you can cook with it in two batches instead of cooking it all at once.

In addition, the garlic oil, which absorbs the flavors of not only the ingredients but also various other ingredients, is incredibly delicious, so if you combine this with boiled pasta, for example, you'll have a delicious oil-based seafood pasta.

The delicious sauce clings to the pasta and the ingredients are chunky, making it a luxurious dish. I think another reason for its popularity is that it can be easily adapted to a variety of dishes.

If you're hesitant to buy it because it's too big, give it a try during party season when there are more opportunities to gather with people.

Meaty, tasty and filling! "Pork Meatball Margherita"

The new deli product, "Pork Meatball Margherita" (194 yen/100g), is a large container filled with large meatballs made from minced pork.

This is a stylish dish with a Margherita-style flavor, covered in tomato sauce and topped with shredded mozzarella cheese and parsley leaves.

It's super easy to prepare, as you can eat it straight from the container or just take out the amount you need and heat it up in the microwave! The mozzarella cheese melts and the sauce becomes shiny, clinging to the meatballs.

The meatballs are dense and packed with flavor, and you can tell they're made with a lot of meat! They're so big you can't eat them in one bite, and they're more filling than they look. As you chew them, the chunky texture of the coarsely ground meat falls apart in your mouth, making you feel like you're really eating meat!

Margherita sauce is not a typical ketchup-based seasoning, but has a luxurious taste with the sourness and umami of tomatoes. It is easy to share and perfect for a party dish.

Another great thing about this is that it can be easily adapted to a variety of dishes! Spaghetti with tomato sauce and meatballs on top was the best!

This impressive dish is reminiscent of the spaghetti meatballs that appeared in the popular animated movie.

I highly recommend it!

Leave the cooking to the oven! Try our "Domestic Chicken Hollow Out"

The standard chicken at Costco is the rotisserie chicken, but on a special occasion, why not go all out and try roasting a whole chicken yourself?

In fact, Costco also sells a whole chicken version of the popular domestic chicken called "Domestic Chicken with Organs Removed" (68 yen/100g).

It feels even bigger than a rotisserie chicken! Rather than just being big, it feels like the meat is thick, so if you grill it, it will be a very impressive dish.

As the name suggests, "eviscerated" means that the neck and internal organs have been removed, leaving the stomach hollow.

You can just season the outside and bake it whole, or you can stuff the cavity with vegetables, rice, bread, or other stuffing and bake it together with the chicken. Even if you just season it with salt and pepper, it will be a great treat.

At first glance, cooking a whole chicken may seem difficult, but you can basically leave it to the oven. The key is to bake it slowly and carefully along with the accompanying vegetables. If you take it out every now and then, scoop up the chicken fat that has spilled onto the baking sheet and pour it over the whole chicken, you'll end up with a delicious whole chicken that's crispy on the outside and moist and plump inside.

Depending on availability, either "Sakuradori" or "Fujimidori" chicken is sold, but both are incredibly moist and richly flavored!

Costco's rotisserie chicken is often sold out during party season, so we recommend you try making your own homemade roast chicken using this whole chicken.

This is America! Immoral sweets "Gooey Cinnamon Roll"

At first glance, it's hard to tell what's inside the product, but it's actually a bakery product called "Gooey Cinnamon Roll" (1,698 yen), in which cinnamon rolls are tightly packed into an aluminum container with no gaps between them.

When you open the lid, the wonderful aroma of cinnamon hits you right away.

The surface is covered with a generous amount of cream cheese flavored icing. By heating it in the oven in the container, you can enjoy an authentic American cinnamon roll with plenty of cinnamon.

The word "gooey" in the product name apparently means "sticky" or "sticky" in English, and the thick layer of frosting on the surface really shows this.

Heat in an oven (or toaster) at 200°C for 9 to 12 minutes until the surface is browned. The icing will become crispy and the inside will become soft and gooey, and the juicy cinnamon roll dough will be permeated.

This is truly American! The authentic cinnamon roll is full of sweetness and cinnamon spice, and the dough is dense and chewy.

The warm and soft icing and cinnamon sugar soak into the cake, filling your mouth with the taste of sin.

In this health boom, you can enjoy authentic American sweets that are hard to find at a reasonable price at Costco. Although cinnamon itself is a sweet that divides people into those who love it and those who hate it, I think that if you like cinnamon rolls, you will definitely like this product, so please give it a try.
