The first in Kyushu! The world-famous Costa Coffee opens at Fukuoka Airport (Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City)
Hello! I'm Hakata Aya, a writer who loves hot information about Fukuoka.
Europe's No.1 (※1) cafe brand has opened in the International Passenger Terminal at Fukuoka Airport!
*1 Based on number of stores (Allegra 2021 World Coffee Portal Survey)
The first store in Kyushu! "Costa Coffee Fukuoka Airport International Passenger Terminal Store" (Oaza Aoki, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City)
Costa Coffee opened on the 3rd floor of Fukuoka Airport's International Passenger Terminal Building on December 1, 2023.
Founded in London in 1971 by the Italian Costa brothers, it is now a popular coffee brand with over 2,800 stores in the UK and Ireland, and over 1,100 stores around the world, operating in 45 countries.
This is the fourth specialty store in the country and the first in Kyushu.
The interior of the store incorporates the latest global design concept, "Uplift," and is a space with a focus on sustainability, with recyclable natural materials used for the flooring.
There are 24 seats and a standing table.
At Costa Coffee, baristas carefully brew each cup to bring out the original flavor of the coffee beans. With a rich aroma and smooth taste, you can enjoy a cup that will "uplift" your travels.
In addition to a wide variety of drinks, mainly coffee, we also offer a light meal menu.
"Original Stainless Steel Bottles" (3,000 yen) were also on sale.
The world-famous recommended menu item, "Flat White"
The first thing we recommend is their signature "Flat White" (560 yen). It's a strong espresso combined with finely foamed milk. It's apparently popular worldwide! You can even have latte art drawn on it to finish it off.
You can feel the richness and full flavor of espresso, but it has little bitterness so it's refreshing. It was delicious!

Shown from the left in the photo are the "Scone Sandwich Holiday Tree" (610 yen) and "Holiday Chocolate Frappe" (750 yen), which will be available for a limited time until Monday, December 25th, 2023.
The "Holiday Chocolate Frappe" is a cocoa frappe topped with Uji matcha whipped cream, white pearl chocolate, dried strawberries, and mango candy, making it look just like a Christmas tree!
The frappe is filled with a rich chocolate pudding made with Belgian chocolate.
I'm happy to be able to enjoy a variety of textures! The sourness of the dried strawberries is an exquisite accent to the sweetness. It was very satisfying to drink.
The "Scone Sandwich Holiday Tree" is a scone with mellow white chocolate cream and Uji matcha whipped cream. The sweetness goes well with coffee. By the way, the one on the left in the photo is the "Scone Sandwich Strawberry Whip" (540 yen).
Also noteworthy is the "Mentaiko Potato and Steamed Chicken Tortilla" (440 yen) on the right side of the photo, which is only available at the "Fukuoka Airport International Passenger Terminal Store." It is full of mild Spicy Fish Eggs and potatoes, steamed chicken and vegetables. It's healthy and filling.
It's a shop I'd like to visit not just when traveling abroad, but even if I make a point of going out of my way to visit.
Please check it out. (Text: Aya Hakata.)
