A luxurious time at a special restaurant with live music ♡ Luigans Christmas 13,000 yen dinner "Chef's Special Course"
Hello. This is Chihi Log, a casual website that provides information about Fukuoka, with a focus on gourmet food.
This time, we will introduce Christmas dinner at the coveted resort hotel, THE LUIGANS Spa & Resort.
Christmas Dinner at "THE LUIGANS Spa & Resort"
THE LUIGANS Spa & Resort is located in the national park, Umi-no-Nakamichi Seaside Park, about 20 minutes by car from the center of Fukuoka city.
A free shuttle bus runs from "HEARTS Bus Station Hakata," and the area is also convenient for getting around without a car: it's a 6-minute walk from Uminonakamichi Station on the JR Kashii Line, a 2-minute walk from the Nishitetsu bus stop "Marine World Uminonakamichi," and a 1-minute walk after disembarking from the Uminaka Line high-speed ferry "Uminonakamichi Pier."
At this time of year, many people look forward to Luigans' Christmas dinner every year.
The dates and times for 2023 will be from 5:00pm on Friday, December 22nd to Monday, December 25th. Two courses are available: the "LUIGANS Course" (six dishes, 9,000 yen per person) and the "Chef's Special Course" (eight dishes, 13,000 yen per person). The courses and venues are different. *Both courses require prior reservations (same-day reservations are also available if there is availability). *A service charge (10%) will be charged separately.
Both courses are the result of more than two months of trial and error by the entire staff, led by Luigans' talented chef.
We will introduce the contents of the "Chef's Special Course" (8 dishes, 13,000 yen per person) that can be enjoyed at "THE GRAND GARDEN," a special restaurant only available during Christmas.

A luxurious time at a special restaurant with live music ♡ Christmas dinner "Chef's Special Course"
The Chef's Special Course comes with a toast (non-alcoholic drinks are also available). Let's start with a toast.
[Amuse] Kasumi crab and burrata cheese with yuzu jelly
The amuse bouche before the appetizer is "Kasumi crab and burrata cheese with yuzu jelly."
This dish is made using a generous amount of Hyogo Prefecture's brand crab, "Kasumi Crab."
When you scoop it up with a spoon, you'll be surprised at how much crab meat there is!
The mild-textured "Stracciatella" cheese further enhances the natural flavor of the crab.
It is topped with yuzu-scented jelly and sea urchin, which add a nice accent when eaten together.
The exquisite taste captured my heart from the very first dish.
[Appetizer] Tuna semi-crudo with seasonal root vegetables and olive sauce
The next appetizer was "Tuna semi-crudo with seasonal root vegetables and olive sauce."
The main dish is tuna, lightly seared to bring out its flavor, topped with scallops and salmon roe, making for a luxurious dish.
The olive sauce, which goes well with any fish dish, has been created after much research so that anyone who eats it will think it's delicious at first bite.
The vibrant colours of seasonal root vegetables add to the visual appeal.
[Hot Appetizer] Braised beef cheek in red wine with truffle-flavored ravioli
The hot appetizer is "Beef cheek braised in red wine with truffle-flavored ravioli."
The ravioli is stuffed with potatoes and several kinds of mushrooms, and flavored with truffle oil.
Additionally, truffles are shaved on top, so when you bite into it, the rich flavor of truffles fills your mouth, creating a luxurious taste.
The beef cheek meat is so tender it almost falls apart, and the flavor of the meat is intertwined with the elegant sauce that uses a lot of tomatoes.
Although it had a strong flavor, it was finished with a lightness befitting a hot appetizer.
[Pasta] Aglio e olio with clams and turnips, and linguine from Awaji Seimen
The pasta is "Aglio e olio with clams and turnips, with Awaji Seimen's linguine"
This dish uses clams, turnips in season, and rape blossoms that are in season early, creating a dish that expresses the transition between winter and spring.
The noodles used are linguine from Awaji Noodles in Hyogo Prefecture.
The chewy texture of the noodles and the ingredients that really brought out their flavor were a perfect match. It was really delicious.
[Fish] Lobster wrapped in pate brick with sauce Americaine
The fish dish is "Lobster wrapped in pate brick with sauce Americaine."
The lobster is wrapped in a thin, crepe-like skin called "pâte birch" made from thinly stretched wheat flour.
When you open it, you'll be surprised by the amount of lobster inside.
The rich flavor of the shiso leaves added an accent to the dish.
The sauce, which has a strong seafood flavor, apparently uses yuzu as a secret ingredient. It's rich but not too heavy, and even the aroma is delicious.
[Meat] Kyushu Kuroge Wagyu beef sirloin roasted with Vincotto sauce
The main dish is the meat dish "Roasted Kyushu Kuroge Wagyu Beef Sirloin with Vincotto Sauce."
The tender and juicy Japanese Black beef is served with cauliflower sauce and fig vincotto sauce, creating a beautiful dish in Christmas colors.
The sauce, which makes the most of the flavor of each ingredient, accentuates the umami of the Kuroge Wagyu beef.
The elegant flavor makes you happy every time you take a bite. Even after I got home, I remembered how delicious it was.
[Dessert] Amaou strawberries from Fukuoka Prefecture and roasted pistachio gelato
For dessert, we had "Fukuoka Amaou strawberry and roasted pistachio gelato," presented like a Christmas tree.
The pistachio-flavored meringue is topped with gold dust for a gorgeous look! The crispy meringue is filled with rich pistachio gelato and plenty of Amaou strawberries! It was an irresistible combination, perfect for finishing off a Christmas dinner.
