So delicious you won't be able to stop eating! Easy fried food recipes perfect for home parties
Hello, I'm Ayumi Nakaganji, a chef.
Why are foods wrapped in skins, like spring rolls, dumplings, shumai, and wontons, so delicious?
It's a bit of a pain to wrap it, but once you get it done it's surprisingly easy!
This time, we will introduce a recipe that uses wonton wrappers. This recipe is also recommended for when you get together with people during the New Year holidays.
1. "Fried Minced Pork Wonton" - A crunchy texture you won't be able to stop eating!
Fried wonton and beer are the best friends! I know you want to put a lot of ingredients, but I'll put in just a little. You can enjoy the crunchiness of the skin. You'll run out of fried wonton.
[Ingredients] (Serves 2)
Minced pork・・・80g
Wonton wrappers...16 pieces
White onion・・・10cm
A Ginger (tube)・・・1 teaspoon
A Garlic (tube)・・・1/2 teaspoon
A. Fish sauce・・・1/4 teaspoon
A. Sugar... a pinch
Sweet chili sauce...to taste
Frying oil...appropriate amount
<How to make>
(1) Finely chop the white onion.
(2) Put the minced pork, (1), and A into a bowl and mix until sticky. Divide the mixture in half in the bowl (wrap each half into 8 pieces).
(3) Place the filling in the center of the skin, then slightly shift the diagonal triangle and fold it over. Tuck both ends in and press the skin tightly to enclose it.
(4) Add about 1cm of oil to a pot and fry at 170 degrees for about 2 minutes.
(5) Serve in serving bowls and add sweet chili sauce to taste.
If you put in too much ingredients, the time it takes to cook will change and it may cause failure. A good rule of thumb is to put in about half a teaspoon.
You can also simply fold the triangular part in half, slightly shifting it, and press it down tightly to wrap the filling.
2: Use leftover wonton skins! "Crispy wonton and mizuna yuzu-flavored salad"
It's yuzu season. It has a distinctive scent that can be used to flavor food or in a bath. The juice can be used in a variety of dishes as a substitute for vinegar. This time, I'll use it with leftover wontons and in a salad.
You might think there's too much yuzu peel, but don't worry! It will fill your mouth with a wonderful aroma.
[Ingredients] (Serves 2-3)
Wonton wrappers...about 8 pieces
Ham...4 slices
Mizuna・・・1/2 bag (100g)
Yuzu...1/2
Sesame oil...1 tablespoon
Soy sauce...1 tablespoon
White sesame seeds... appropriate amount
Salad oil...appropriate amount
<How to make>
(1) Cut the mizuna into 3cm pieces and place in cold water. Cut the ham into thin strips. Peel the yuzu and cut into thin strips, then squeeze the fruit and remove the seeds (use 2 teaspoons of juice). Cut the wontons into thin strips 7mm wide.
(2) Place the mizuna in a colander and drain thoroughly. Place in a serving dish with the ham and yuzu peel.
(3) Add about 1cm of oil to a frying pan, and when it reaches 170 degrees, add crumbled wontons and fry until crispy.
(4) (2) is topped with yuzu juice, soy sauce, sesame oil, and white sesame seeds, in that order, and then topped with fried wontons.
It takes more than 10 years for a yuzu tree to grow into one that can bear fruit, and so it has a long lifespan, with some trees apparently being over 100 years old. It's quite moving to think that most yuzu trees will outlive me.
The remaining wontons can be used as a salad topping, or sprinkled with spices and salt to enjoy as a snack. Please give it a try. (Text by Ayumi Nakaganji)
