[Hakata Station] Sumo wrestling Kyushu Tournament collaboration! A "sumokawa" cafe will be open for a limited time (Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City)
Hello! I'm Hakata Aya, a writer who loves hot information about Fukuoka.
The 2023 Kyushu Grand Sumo Tournament will be held from Sunday, November 12th.
To commemorate this event, a limited-time collaboration cafe will be open in Hakata from Friday, October 27th to Sunday, November 26th, 2023.
We'll introduce you to some must-see "sumo-kawaii" content for sumo fans!
Collaboration with sumo wrestling! "Sumo x Kawara CAFE" will be open at KITTE Hakata until Sunday, November 26th (Hakata Station Central Street, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City)
"Sumo x Kawara CAFE" is being held at "kawara CAFE & DINING KITTE Hakata" on the 9th floor of "KITTE Hakata", which is directly connected to JR Hakata Station.
Inside the store, there is also an original, life-sized sumo wrestler-sized face-in panel! Why not try putting your face in it as a commemorative photo booth?
Enjoy the experience of being a sumo wrestler with this menu ♡ Authentic chanko stew and "sumokawa" sweets are available
All of the menu items on this collaboration are officially recognized by the Kyushu Grand Sumo Tournament!
Participating menu items come with limited edition placemats and coasters (designs are random and cannot be chosen).
This is the "Fukuoka Prefecture Hakata Ichiban Chicken and Plenty of Vegetables Barley Miso Butter Chanko Nabe Set Meal" (1,680 yen), which is a Kawara-style adaptation of a chanko nabe recipe from an actual sumo stable. It comes with rice, salad, and miso soup.
A hearty meal that allows you to get plenty of nutrition from meat to vegetables in one hot pot. The moment you put it in your mouth, you can smell the rich miso butter and it's delicious! The meat and vegetables are thoroughly infused with broth, giving it a special flavor that is unique to chanko nabe.
This is the simply cute "Dosukoi! Yokozuna's Tsuppari Pudding Parfait" (1,280 yen). This special pudding parfait has a firm pudding on top of a large scoop of vanilla ice cream. Even though it's a dessert, it's as heavy as a sumo wrestler!
The "Sekitori Japanese Sweets Plate to Eat with Salt" (1,580 yen) is a luxurious set of Japanese sweets including roasted green tea and caramel sumo ring tiramisu, sumo ice cream monaka, and sekitori nerikiri.
You can sprinkle the salt on the sumo ring and eat it, so you can feel like a sumo wrestler! The tiramisu was not too sweet and had a smooth texture that was likely to become addictive.
The "Sumo Kawaii Floats" (980 yen each) are (from left) "Matcha Milk," "Strawberry Milk," "Blueberry Milk," and "Mango Milk."
The randomly placed "Limited Edition Sumo Monaka" has familiar words from sumo wrestlers and sumo printed on it. It's fun to see what you get♪
Also, at the entrance to the cafe, souvenirs related to sumo such as "Kokugikan Curry" (400 yen) and "Sumo Masking Tape" (500 yen) were on sale!
This collaboration café is only available now. Be sure to come visit soon! (Text by Aya Hakata)
