Treat yourself to a delicious lunch with a spectacular view from 123 meters above ground and a delicious "Sushi Afternoon Tea" (Jigyohama, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)
Hello! I'm Hakata Aya, a writer who loves hot information about Fukuoka.
The popular "Sushi Afternoon Tea" at the Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk's "Sushi Kappo Tomoduna" has been revamped for the fall and winter season.
I just had the chance to try it out, so I'd like to share my experience with you!
"Tomoduna Sushi Restaurant" on the top floor of the "Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk" where you can enjoy the view from 123 meters above ground (Jigyohama, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)
The Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk is a 15-minute walk from Tojinmachi Station on the subway and a short walk from the Nishitetsu Bus stop at Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk.
The Sushi Kappo Tomoduna we will be introducing this time is located on the top floor, the 35th floor.
This restaurant serves authentic Japanese cuisine made with local ingredients and also offers pairings with Japanese sake, local alcohol, wine, and more.
The interior of the store is elegant and stylish.
Above all, the view from 123 meters above ground is breathtaking! On a clear day, you can see all the way to Itoshima.
In addition to table seating, there are also private rooms with close-up views of Fukuoka Tower and other attractions, making it ideal for a variety of occasions, including business dinners.
Karen's popular afternoon tea-style sushi lunch has a new menu item
The hot topic at "Sushi Kappo Tomoduna" is the lunch menu "Karen" (normal seats 5,800 yen, ocean view seats 6,000 yen *both per person), which is only available from 12:00 to 14:30 (last entry 14:00).
The "Sushi Afternoon Tea" launched in June 2023 and includes a set of the chef's carefully selected sushi and Japanese sweets, as well as sweets from the "Sky Afternoon Tea" at Bar & Dining CLOUDS on the hotel's 35th floor.
You can enjoy our autumn and winter menus from Tuesday, October 10th to Sunday, December 31st, 2023.
Two appetizers and sushi rolls
The two appetizers are "Satsuma Imo Mont Blanc," made by squeezing steamed sweet potatoes into thin strips, and "Kabosu Kama Seasonal Salad," a salad of seasonal vegetables garnished with ginkgo nuts and beautifully served in a kabosu peel dish.
The "Kabosu Kama Seasonal Soaked Soup" is incredibly photogenic. Just before eating, kabosu juice is sprayed on it like perfume, giving it a fresh, refreshing aroma.
The "Satsuma Imo Mont Blanc" has a smooth and elegant sweetness. The crispy texture of the chips is a nice accent.
The "Maki Sushi" topped with Brussels sprouts is also filled with cream cheese, salmon, and Spicy Fish Eggs, making for a perfect combination!
5 nigiri sushi
Going clockwise from the back of the photo are "Special Tekkamaki," "Taimatsukawa," and "Mackerel Marinated in Sesame Sauce."
"Sesame sauce marinated mackerel" is an adaptation of the local Fukuoka dish "sesame mackerel". It is fresh and has no odor. It is thickly cut and has a good volume, so the umami of sesame mackerel spreads throughout your mouth and is delicious.
The "Taimasukawa" is woven with the skin on, and the flavor and texture of the skin, as well as the taste of the seared surface, are amazing!
On the left is "Junihitoe Toro," inspired by the twelve-layered kimono and expressing the overlapping of cloth. On the right is "Grilled Squid Matsukasa," which was created with a pine cone in mind. It's delicious, of course, but the attention to detail is a delight to look at as well.
Cocktail Sushi
The "Cocktail Sushi" was luxurious, with plenty of salmon roe and sea urchin!
3 types of Japanese sweets
For dessert after the meal, let me start by introducing three types of Japanese sweets.
The autumn/winter menu includes "Kanzashi" and "Kuri Yokan" and also allows you to choose one of the Japanese sweets shown in the photos below. I chose a stylish flower-shaped Japanese sweet.
"Kanzashi" is a traditional sweet from Shimabara City, Nagasaki Prefecture, where head chef Kazutaka Hagiwara is from. I was soothed by the smooth and soft texture of the rice flour dumplings and the gentle taste of the honey, which somehow made me feel relaxed.
The "Chestnut Yokan" was very satisfying, with large chunks of chestnut inside.
Two seasonal sweets
The two seasonal sweets are from "Bar & Dining CLOUDS's" "Afternoon Tea in the Sky." The contents change depending on the season, but on this day, there was a seasonal fruit shortcake and a matcha roll cake.
The moment you put the roll cake in your mouth, you can taste the yuzu flavor! It was a refreshing taste that was perfect after a meal.
We were able to enjoy a wonderful lunch, from sushi to sweets, while also taking in the beautiful scenery.
Please give it a try. (Text: Hakata Aya.)
