Not just parfaits! Brooklyn Parlor Hakata's must-have classic sweets (Shimokawabata-cho, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City)

Hello! This is the ARNE student editorial team.

This time, three members from Seinan Gakuin University (Sato, Takasu, Hirayama) went to a popular cafe in Shimokawabata-cho, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka city!

Brooklyn Parlor Hakata, a popular cafe with a stylish atmosphere inspired by Brooklyn, New York (Shimokawabata-cho, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City)

Brooklyn Parlor Hakata is located on the first floor of Hakata Riverain Mall by TAKASHIMAYA, which is directly connected to Nakasu-Kawabata Station on the Subway Kuko Line and Hakozaki Line.

This popular cafe has the concept of "All the wasteful and elegant things in life."

The interior of the restaurant is a stylish space reminiscent of Brooklyn, New York, with a total of 120-130 seats, including table seats and sofa seats.

The BGM is a playlist selected by BLUE NOTE TOKYO. The volume is a little loud, but that's because the store doesn't want you to hear the voices of other customers.

Whether you are alone or in a group, you can immerse yourself in your own world and enjoy "all the useless and elegant things in life," such as drinking coffee, listening to music, reading books, and other things that "you don't need but are nice to have."

A classic favorite! Three-tiered, hearty pancakes

From here, we will introduce some of the sweets that we actually tried from the many on the menu.

Both items can be ordered during "cafe time" from 14:30 (last order 20:00, while supplies last).

This is the standard item, "Classic Pancakes" (990 yen).

Rather than being fluffy, it has three firm pieces of dough! It's very voluminous.

The special dough is made only after an order is placed. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes before it is ready to serve, but baking it slowly allows the dough to rise properly.

When you put it in your mouth, the delicious aroma of eggs spreads gently.

It's also delicious with the maple syrup and fresh cream that come with it.

Limited time offer! A luxurious parfait where you can enjoy the taste of the season

Speaking of Brooklyn Parlour, their seasonal parfaits that allow you to enjoy the flavors of the season are also very popular!

On the day I visited, there were three types of parfait: "Luxurious Shine Muscat Parfait" (1,700 yen), "Shine & Pione Parfait" (1,500 yen), and "Honey & Lemon Parfait" (1,500 yen). From 14:30 to 17:30, you can add a "Drink Set (coffee or tea)" for an additional 300 yen.

The current lineup has changed, but I would like to introduce it to you.

This is a drink set that comes with the "Luxurious Shine Muscat Parfait" (1,700 yen *not available in 2023).

This is a luxurious parfait, as its name suggests, topped with around 10 large Shine Muscat grapes that can be eaten with the skin on.

Under the cream, which goes perfectly with the Shine Muscat grapes, there's even vanilla ice cream!

Thinly sliced Shine Muscat grapes are garnished on the inside of the glass, which is filled with custard cream, plain sponge cake, and yuzu jelly.

Although it is sweet overall, the yuzu jelly that comes at the end and the salty pretzels stuck in the parfait leave a refreshing feeling in the mouth.

This is the "Honey & Lemon Parfait" (1,500 yen *No longer available in 2023).

From the bottom up, the layers are lemon jelly, cocoa sponge, honey panna cotta, fresh cream, cookie dough, lemon sorbet, whipped cream, honeycomb-shaped cookies, and honeycomb.

The first time I tried honeycomb, it was as sweet as a condensed version of the liquid honey I usually eat. It was even more delicious when eaten with the refreshing lemon sorbet.

The lemon gives it a refreshing taste with just the right amount of sweetness. It was delicious right to the end.

From here, we will introduce some parfaits that you can enjoy in this coming season.

This is the classic "Chocolate Parfait" (1,100 yen) that can be enjoyed any time.
