[New Izakaya in the Tenjin area] The smell of charcoal grilling is irresistible! Delicious "Grilled Chicken" grilled on a charcoal grill (Imaizumi, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)

Hello, I'm ayu.latte, a writer who loves delicious food.

This time, we will introduce you to some noteworthy izakayas that are easily accessible from Tenjin.

"Toriya Hisamoto" (Imaizumi, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City), a chicken specialty restaurant that is easy to drop in to even if you're alone

On September 24, 2023, the izakaya restaurant "Toriya Hisamoto" opened, located a 3-minute walk from Tenjin Minami Station on the Nanakuma Line of the Fukuoka City Subway.

This is a sister store of the popular izakaya "Funabashi Yohinten" in Kego (see article on Funabashi Yohinten here)Here). With grilled chicken marinated in sauce as the main dish, you can enjoy a wide variety of small dishes.

The landmark is a red chicken.

The interior of the restaurant is long and deep, with counter seats and stand-up seats for drinking.

Each seat is provided with a charcoal grill. There is a ventilation fan directly above, so the smoke from the grilling wasn't too bothersome.

By the way, you can't make reservations for the stands, but you can enjoy a 20% discount on drinks. It's a great option when you want to have a quick drink!

The aroma is irresistible! Delicious "grilled chicken"

Once you sit down, the first thing you'll be served is an appetizer (300 yen).

On this day, I had chicken breast in a soup. The yuzu citrus flavor was refreshing and enjoyable.

Now, let me introduce you to our signature dish, grilled chicken.

They use "breeding chickens" that have been raised for over 450 days, about nine times longer than the "young chickens" that are generally sold. They say that the meat is full of flavor and has a unique texture that is neither too hard nor too soft.

There are seven different cuts available: "Thigh" (640 yen), "Furisode" (430 yen), "Harami" (380 yen), "Seriri" (430 yen), "Tonjiri" (380 yen), "Gizzard" (430 yen), and "Yagen Cartilage" (430 yen). You can grill it yourself or have the staff grill it for you.

This is my favorite food, "gizzard shad." Its beautiful red color tells you it's fresh.

The fragrant smell of charcoal grilling! The sauce was delicious and the texture was irresistible ♡

This is "Yagen Cartilage." It has a nice crunchy texture and you can eat as much as you want!

Aside from meat, there are other dishes that go well with alcohol, such as "Eringi" (300 yen), "Yamaimo" (350 yen), "Unzen Ham" (430 yen), "Takoten" (430 yen), and "Stingray Fin" (480 yen).

You can add "Yuzu shichimi", "Shichimi", or "Sansho shichimi" to your grilled dishes. Personally, I like the softly fragrant "Yuzu shichimi".

There are three paid toppings: "Dashi Tororo" (200 yen), "Tasty and spicy shredded leeks" (180 yen), and "Grated radish with lemon vinegar" (150 yen).

I ordered the "Demon Grated Daikon with Lemon Vinegar" which was refreshing and very delicious.

You'll have a hard time deciding which one to choose! A variety of small plate snacks

There are many side dishes to choose from, so I asked the staff at the restaurant for some recommendations.

On the left in the photo is "Potato Salad with Simmered Chicken" (450 yen) topped with large-grained Tasmanian mustard. It was nice to have a generous amount of simmered chicken, and the flavor went well with alcohol.

The one on the right of the photo, sprinkled with bonito flakes, is "Nagaimo Shiso-zuke" (380 yen). Its crunchy texture and the refreshing flavor of shiso make it a perfect match.

This is "Chicken Fillet Pickled Avocado" (580 yen), which is avocado and chicken fillet marinated in soy sauce, topped with sea urchin soy sauce containing wasabi stems. The addition of sea urchin enhances the rich flavor, making it so delicious that you won't be able to stop eating.

This is the "Chicken and Shrimp Shumai with Lemon Soy Sauce" (2 pieces for 380 yen) which contains coarsely minced Yagen cartilage, shrimp, lemon peel, etc. It has a very meaty taste and you could eat as many as you like!

This is "THE Chicken Nanban" (480 yen). The chicken is deep-fried in a secret sauce, crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. The tartare sauce, which is made with smoked pickled radish and is packed with ingredients, is also great! I thought pickles were the standard, but I was surprised at how well it went with pickled radish.

The perfect final dish is the piping hot "Stone-grilled Garlic Rice" (730 yen). It's filled with plenty of sweet and spicy chicken!

To finish, add chicken oil and soy sauce, mix well, and enjoy. I was so impressed by how delicious it was! The fragrant garlic and juicy chicken go perfectly together.

And of course, you can't miss the post-meal sweets! I had the "Shizuku Warabimochi" (280 yen), which is flavored with soybean flour and brown sugar syrup.

It's clear and bouncy just like a real drop of water! It's not too sweet, and is the perfect taste to have after a meal.

A wide variety of drinks available

There is a wide selection of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, that go well with the food.

The photo shows the "Shiso Sour" (480 yen). The sourness, similar to that of a plum, was addictively delicious ♡ The red color is also cute.

Other drinks available include "Chiran Tea Highball" (450 yen) and "Setouchi Lemon Sour" (480 yen).

There was also a wine and sake list.

If you want to stop by after work or have a few drinks with friends, why not give Toriya Hisamoto a try? (Text by ayu.latte)
