The charcoal-grilled Mitsuse chicken is a must-try! "Everything you eat is delicious" Izakaya (Senba-cho, Kokurakita-ku, Kitakyushu City)
Hello. This is Chihilog, a casual blog that provides information about Fukuoka, with a focus on gourmet food.
This time, we will introduce you to an excellent izakaya that has been loved in Kokura for over 28 years.
An excellent izakaya in the Kokura area: Yakimonya Sai's (Senba-cho, Kokurakita-ku, Kitakyushu City)
Yakimonoya Sai's is located about a 2-minute walk from Heiwadori Station on the Kitakyushu Monorail and about a 7-minute walk from Kokura Station on the JR lines.
The concept of the restaurant is "an izakaya where you can enjoy healthy food with plenty of vegetables." They serve a variety of dishes, both Japanese and Western, including creative dishes with plenty of vegetables, sashimi made with fresh fish purchased directly from fishermen, and grilled Mitsuse chicken dishes.
The interior of the store is spacious.
In addition to counter seats, there are also about 50 tables where you can sit back and relax. If you book the entire place, it can accommodate up to 80 people, so it will be a great success during the New Year period when there are more drinking parties!
Check out the featured menu here!
Zaruyaki
The restaurant's specialty, "Zaru-yaki" (1,200 yen), is a dish you should try at least once.
The staff will grill four types of Mitsuse Chicken, which has an irresistible chewiness and flavor - thigh meat, fatty meat, liver, and skin - on a charcoal grill in front of you.
The sight of it being grilled in a spectacular fashion is very impressive!
A fragrant aroma rises.
After cooking it in a colander to a certain extent, it is then cooked slowly on a wire rack.
The plump and fragrantly grilled Mitsuse chicken is packed with flavor and is truly amazingly delicious.
It's a menu that's sure to get the crowd excited.
Premium pork loin cutlet
"Yakimonya Sai's" opens from 5pm, but during lunchtime (11:30am-3pm) it operates as a tonkatsu specialty restaurant called "Tonkatsu Ai", which serves the finest tonkatsu, which it has spent five years perfecting.
Because of this, you can also enjoy Tonkatsu Ai's pork cutlets as a single item in the evening.
This time I ordered the "Premium Loin Cutlet" (1,200 yen).
When you pick it up with chopsticks, you can feel its weight! It's made using loin meat from "Hi-Po Pork" produced in Fukuoka Prefecture.
When you put it in your mouth, the meat fibers are soft and juicy, and it's delicious!
You can enjoy changing the flavor by adding your favorite condiments such as tonkatsu sauce, salt, wasabi soy sauce, mustard, etc.
By the way, the "Special Pork Loin Cutlet Set Meal" (1,550 yen) available at Tonkatsu Ai during lunch hours comes with salad, rice, miso soup, and pickles, and rice refills are free.
Crispy Margherita Pizza with Salami and Basil
The "Crispy Margherita Pizza with Salami and Basil" (1,150 yen) is so delicious that you'll want to try it again and again!
It is baked to a crispy perfection and is filled with plenty of melted cheese, making it irresistible.
Potato salad with soft-boiled egg
The key to this dish is the "Potato Salad with Soft-boiled Egg" (650 yen), made with soft-boiled eggs and an original Caesar dressing.
It's packed with vegetables and topped with flying fish roe, so you can enjoy a luxurious taste.
Shrimp Puri Spring Rolls
A popular menu item since the restaurant first opened is the "Shrimp Puri Spring Rolls" (850 yen).
The crispy, fragrant skin is filled with a rich, flavorful shrimp filling!
Served with special sauce.
Pumpkin and Shiratama Zenzai
Another dish that has been loved since the shop first opened is the "Pumpkin Shiratama Zenzai" (600 yen).
The sweetness of the pumpkin is condensed into a mild, mellow flavor. The chewy shiratama rice balls and bean paste go perfectly together, making this a delicious, healthy treat.
Vegetable Cocktail
I was especially impressed by the nine types of "Vegetable Cocktails" (700 yen each), which are made by putting vegetables and fruits through a juicer after the order is placed. You can change them to non-alcoholic, and three types, "Carrot x Mango", "Daikon Berry", and "Paprika x Orange", can be ordered as part of the all-you-can-drink plan.
This drink conveys the shop's idea that "offering all-you-can-drink options to people who can't drink alcohol is not cost-effective, but we want to offer drinks that will satisfy even those who can't drink alcohol."
This time I ordered "Pumpkin x Yogurt", which was a wonderful combination of the sweetness of the pumpkin and the mellowness of the yogurt and milk.
I'm looking forward to seeing what's written on the back! You'll receive an uplifting message card on your way home.
Before you leave, a staff member will bring an uplifting message card to your seat.
Stay tuned to see what's written on the back!
By the way, there are a row of lucky cats lining the windows inside the store. Apparently, the store has been collecting them ever since a regular customer gifted one to the store when it first opened, saying, "I found a lucky cat that looks just like the owner of the store!"
This is a special izakaya where you will be impressed no matter what you eat. Please come and visit us. (Text by CHIHIRO)
