Hello, I'm ayu.latte, a writer who loves delicious food.

The view from the window is amazing! QUON RIVER TERRACE, a cafe restaurant that specializes in afternoon tea (Haruyoshi, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka)

Simply gorgeous and beautiful! The very satisfying "W Afternoon Tea"

This afternoon tea is called "WAfternoon Tea" and is a unique evolution of the British afternoon tea culture, which has been given a Japanese twist. It is made with both Japanese and Western ingredients and the contents change with the seasons. It is also popular with tourists from overseas.

From 11:00 to 17:00, you can enjoy two types of tea: "Standard W Afternoon Tea" (4,500 yen per person) and "Premium W Afternoon Tea" (5,500 yen per person).

Seats are limited to two hours and include 90 minutes of free flow, allowing you to enjoy as much tea as you like from 23 types of tea, herbal tea, coffee, and soft drinks.

The black and herbal teas are served in stylish Nanbu ironware, which makes them perfect for photos.

The theme of "W Afternoon Tea," available from September 6th to November 8th, 2023, is "Nobility and Frost."

The theme colors are purple and white, inspired by the autumn flower "gentian." The content was created by imagining autumn fruits when the wind blows through the high sky and the frost falls pure and white.

On this day, I had the "Premium Afternoon Tea." I'll tell you more about it.

Welcome drink

The two layers of white and purple are very beautiful! It had a sweet and sour refreshing taste.

Choice of scone sandwiches

From the left, there are five flavors: pistachio & lemon, caramel chocolate, beet & raspberry, walnut & maple, and matcha marron. You can choose your favorite from these.

It's hard to decide which one to choose. The balance of the moist scones and lightly sweet cream is just right.

The upper shelf is lined with gorgeous looking sweets

There are four types of petit fours on the top row. (Clockwise from the left in the photo) They are "Lemon and Lime Jelly Honey Cream," "Hojicha and Chai Tea Chocolate Sandwich" with chai and dark chocolate ganache cream sandwiched between hojicha dough, "Blueberry Cheesecake Macaron" with cheese, white chocolate ganache and blueberry jam, and "Annou Sweet Potato and Purple Sweet Potato Dacquoise" topped with purple sweet potato butter cream and candied Annou sweet potato.

The perfect palate cleanser is the "Lemon and Lime Jelly Honey Cream." The gently sweet honey cream is combined with the sour lemon and lime jelly for a perfect balance. It's very refreshing!

The middle shelf is lined with sweets with fun textures

Lined up on the second tier, clockwise from the left side of the photo, are the nostalgic ``Grape Jelly and Osmanthus Jelly,'' the cute chestnut-shaped ``Marron and Milk Chocolate Mousse,'' the ``Japanese Chestnut Paris-Brest'' filled with Japanese chestnut cream, cream cheese, and lemon cream, and the sweet and salty ``Red Shiso Cream Cheese Sandwich.''

There are four different types, so you can enjoy a variety of textures.

What particularly impressed me was the "Chestnut and Milk Chocolate Mousse."

Judging from its appearance, you might think it contains whole chestnuts, but it's actually a mousse! It's filled with a sweet and sour blackcurrant sauce, and its cross-section is also cute, so be sure to check it out.

The "Japanese Chestnut Paris Brest" also had an irresistible crunchy texture and was delicious!

A satisfying savory plate

The third tier of savory dishes (meal menu items), listed clockwise from the bottom left in the photo, are "Five Flavor Boat," "Grilled Eggplant Mousse with Red Paprika and Chidori Vinegar Marinade" which is grilled eggplant simmered in bouillon and made into a mousse, the ever-popular "Hisayama Yayoi Pork Cutlet Sandwich," and "Wagyu and Red Miso Keema Quiche" topped with a luxurious keema curry made with wagyu beef.

The highlight is the "Gomi no Boat." As the restaurant celebrated its second anniversary in September, it is a revival of the menu that was on offer when the restaurant first opened.

You can enjoy the five luxurious flavors of sweetness, umami, bitterness, sourness, and spiciness all at once.

Assiette dessert

The final dish is "Almond Milk Panna Cotta with Chestnut Sorbet."

The balance of the chestnut flavor of the sorbet, panna cotta, and blackcurrant sauce is exquisite. The sourness of the blackcurrant makes it refreshing!

In authentic British afternoon tea, it is considered good etiquette to eat from the bottom up, but here you can eat in any order you like.

"Premium Afternoon Tea" is made with black currant and chestnut, perfect for autumn. All of the flavors were delicious!
