Limited to 4 groups per day! Exquisite lunch and dinner at a hidden yakiniku restaurant run by a butcher (Kanda Town)
Hello. This is Chihilog, a casual blog that provides information about Fukuoka, with a focus on gourmet food.
This time, we will introduce a yakiniku restaurant in Kanda Town, Kyoto County, located between Kitakyushu City and Yukuhashi City in Fukuoka Prefecture, which only serves four groups per day.
Reservations are required and only four groups are allowed per day! 29meet, a hidden gem of a yakiniku restaurant run by a butcher (Kanda-machi, Kyoto-gun)
29meet is a butcher shop located about 10 minutes by car from JR Kanda Station. It opened on April 27, 2023.
Furthermore, from June 1, 2023, it will also operate as a yakiniku restaurant with private rooms, limiting accommodating up to four groups per day.
The entrance to the yakiniku restaurant is a hidden door next to the butcher shop.
Beyond the door lies a luxurious space.
Normally, photos inside the store are not published, but we were given special permission to take some this time!
The shop is decorated with Arita ware glasses, wines carefully selected by the owner, and a Japanese sword that is said to be 600 years old.
Actually, this Japanese sword is not just for display. I will introduce it later, so please look forward to it.
What you can enjoy here is the "Fine Lunch" which is limited to three groups per day, and the "Fine Dinner" which is limited to one group per day. The fact that it is only available to a total of four groups makes it feel very special!
Limited to one group per day! "Exquisite Dinner" course to enjoy in a private room
First, we would like to introduce the "Exquisite Dinner" (7,700 yen *8,800 yen from November 2023), which is limited to one group per day. *The photo shows two servings
The course meal consisted of about 20 dishes. It was delicious from start to finish and the portions were huge!
All the plates are made of Arita ware, and the beauty of each and every dish is also noteworthy.
Wagyu tongue salad with kelp
The first dish to appear is "Wagyu Tongue Salad with Kombu Seaweed."
The crunchy vegetables and the soft tongue marinated in kelp were a perfect match.
Kimchi platter
Next came the "Kimchi Assortment" in a wooden box. There were four kinds to choose from: Nanko plum, celery, Japanese yam, and flying squid.
It was my first time trying all the kimchi, but the taste and texture were amazing! It goes great with meat and rice too.
Yukhoe
From this point on, raw meat is served. It is served with permission, but it is also possible to have it cooked. Please let us know when you make your reservation.
There are two types of yukhoe. The one that particularly impressed me was the "Salted Beef Fat Taku Yukhoe" served on a spoon.
The delicious fatty tuna taku that melts in your mouth goes perfectly with the refreshing acidity of the sudachi. This was the first time I'd ever had such delicious yukhoe.
The "Yukke in Sauce" served on top of chicory is served with tonburi, known as the caviar of the fields, and mustard.
This was also the most delicious thing I've ever tasted, and I was surprised right from the start!
White senmai sashimi
"White omasum sashimi" decorated with salmon roe and shiso flowers. I enjoyed the crunchy texture and refreshing taste.
Grilled liver
The texture of the grilled liver melted in my mouth and was so amazing that I wished time would stop.
Heart sashimi
The heart part of the fish is served with "Hatsu Sashimi" and a refreshing and mellow homemade vinegared miso sauce, a tasteful combination.
Fish sashimi
"Tsurami sashimi" is beef cheek meat, a type of offal. It has a rich flavor that is irresistible. Enjoy it with ponzu sauce and grated daikon radish for a refreshing taste.
Loin Sushi
The [Loin Nigiri], made with red vinegar rice, has a luxurious texture that melts in your mouth.
It is already salted, so just put it in your mouth and enjoy the deliciousness of the loin.
Loin Shabu-shabu
From here comes the meat, which will be cooked and enjoyed.
The [Loin Shabu-shabu] is served with a special bonito stock that has been brewed over three hours and has a subtle hint of Japanese pepper.
The meat is quickly dipped in broth and then wrapped around soft eggplant that has been simmered in broth. When you put it in your mouth, the broth oozes out.
Grilled with salt
Now we have yakiniku. Clockwise from the left, Chateaubriand, Wagyu tongue, and tongue ribs.
On another day, when I visited to celebrate Respect for the Aged Day, they made a surprise message plate for me.
We recommend eating it with the specially selected Japanese kelp, which will bring out the flavor of the high-quality meat even more.
Chateaubriand sandwich
Chateaubriand is best enjoyed as a sandwich.
Freshly baked Chateaubriand is served on crispy toasted bread topped with a special tomato sauce that brings out the flavor of the meat.
Cut it in half with the Japanese sword you used earlier!
When you put it in your mouth, you'll be amazed at the texture of the Chateaubriand, which is so soft you won't even need to use your teeth to eat it.
It was the first time I'd ever eaten such a delicious meat sandwich! It was an amazing masterpiece.
Grilled with sauce
There are three types of sauce-grilled steak, clockwise from the bottom left: ichibone, misuji, and harami.
It is served with grated yam accented with wasabi and the yolk of Oita's rich egg brand, Ranou.
The refined flavor of the sauce is even more mellow, and the high-quality meat flavor fills your mouth.
sirloin
Sirloin, also known as the king of steaks, is served quickly seared.
It was so incredibly soft, it melted in my mouth.
rice
The rice is cooked in a clay pot made by Nakagawa Ippen-to at Shigaraki Kumoigama in Shiga Prefecture.
The rice used is "Imai Mee", a rice blend created by a rice master from Osaka to go well with meat.
The shiny, fluffy rice goes perfectly with the meat.
Final Noodles
For the final noodle, you can choose between "Nihachi Soba" or "Reimen."
The "Nihachi Soba" uses thin noodles ordered from a soba restaurant. It has a good flavor and goes down smoothly.
The key to the "Reimen" is the deep flavor of the broth. It was refreshing and enjoyable.
dessert
For dessert, we went to Fukuchi Rich Gelato in Fukuchi Town, Tagawa County. On this day, we had vanilla and black bean flavor.
It is made without any added fragrance or coloring, and is rich and delicious, bringing out the flavor of the ingredients.
When I visited on another day, I tried Amaou strawberries, which had a nice sweet and sour taste.
Starting in November 2023, in addition to the course menu of "29meet Bettei Exquisite Dinner [TEN]" (12,000 yen), a plan to enjoy single menus, "29meet Bettei Freestyle Yakiniku", will be available. In addition to the "Exquisite Dinner", you will be able to choose from a total of three menus.
Limited to 3 groups per day! "Exquisite Lunch"
The "Exquisite Lunch" is limited to three groups per day and is 60 minutes long, served between 11am and 3pm.
This time, I ordered the "Aged Aitchbone Steak Lunch Box" (1,780 yen), which comes with salad, pickles, and "gotofu," a local dish from Arita, Saga Prefecture.
The aged sirloin is cooked rare and topped with a Ran-oh egg yolk. The sauce brings out the flavor of the meat and is exquisite!
When you mix the egg yolk with the sauce and put it in your mouth, it's absolutely delicious!
You can also add broth to make it like meat chazuke, making it a delicious lunch that has two dishes in one.
It was a truly exquisite dinner and lunch, where we could enjoy meat carefully selected by the butcher.
I was so impressed the first time I went there that I ended up making a reservation again the next day!
By the way, if you choose the "Exquisite Dinner" option, staff will provide free transportation to and from three stations only: JR Konase Nishikoudaimae, Kanda Station, and Yukuhashi Station.
