Crepes for about 75 yen each!? "Costco expert Kosuko's carefully selected" 3 cost-effective "new sweets"

Hello! I'm Kosuko, a Costco fan.

Costco has a huge selection of delicious, great value sweets! This time, we'll be introducing three new sweets that were introduced at Costco in July.

#I want to know more about Kosuko-san's Costco introduction!

1: Approximately 75 yen per piece! "12 crepes" filled with plenty of cream

Crepes (12 pieces) 899 yen (tax included)

These are the sweets that were released in July. When you think of Costco sweets, you think of big whole cakes! So I thought it was very unusual to see these kinds of easy-to-portion cakes.

I've been going to Costco for about 10 years, but this may be the first time I've seen French-style crepes.

What's most striking is the color of the crepe fabric! The set comes in two colors: the familiar plain type and a deep pink one.

The plain one is a fresh banana crepe, while the pink one is topped with roasted almonds and caramel sauce. Each has a different flavor.

However, this bright pink color... it has a very American look, and may be a startling visual at first glance, but in fact it is colored with vegetable pigments, so it is in no way artificially colored.

The crepe dough has a chewy texture and is slightly salty, while the fluffy, soft cream combines with the sweet banana and caramel sauce for a sweet and salty taste. Each crepe is quite filling, but you can eat it all in one go.

This is a great deal at about 75 yen per piece!

What's great is that at 899 yen per pack, it's a relatively affordable price range for Costco.

2: Moist dough and rich, delicious flavor! "Pineapple Upside-Down Cake"

This is also a new sweet for July. It is a baked confectionery with a homemade feel, and the total weight is about 1.5kg! It is a heavy cake that is typical of Costco, but it is also very delicious!

It has an unusual appearance, with a design that looks like pineapple slices embedded in the cake batter.

As the name suggests, "upside-down cake" is a cake that is baked upside down.

Arrange pineapple slices soaked in syrup in a cake mold, pour cake batter on top and bake. When the cake is done, flip it over so that the pineapple side is facing up.

By turning it upside down, the pineapple syrup permeates the cake batter, making it very moist.

It's not overly sweet, but rather has a rich, delicious taste. The fragrant dough and the juicy sweetness of the pineapple combine together, and the more days you leave it, the more the syrup gradually blends into the dough, making it more and more delicious.

Although the amount is large, you can cut it into pieces and freeze it. Take a piece out of the freezer and enjoy it as a cool dessert with your coffee or tea for the ultimate tea time.

3. Costco's food court menu: Tropical Soft Serve Ice Cream - Plenty of volume and reasonably priced!

The bakery corner isn't the only place to find new sweets. Costco's food court has also introduced a summer-only "Tropical Soft Serve Ice Cream."

The drink is based on rich, smooth Hokkaido soft serve ice cream and is mixed with four kinds of tropical fruits: pineapple, mango, banana, and passion fruit.

The tropical fruits soften the rich taste of the Hokkaido milk and give it a very refreshing taste, making this a light soft serve ice cream that's perfect for this time of year.

It's spun into a big container and although it's a big portion, it's only 240 yen! What a bargain!

The portion size is perfect for two people to share, but because it has a refreshing tropical flavor, I found it surprisingly easy to eat even by myself.

Of all the flavored soft serve ice creams I've had recently at Costco, this "Tropical Soft Serve Ice Cream" was my favorite!

What did you think of the "3 Recommended New Sweets"? Costco's sweets may be too big, but there are many great value items, and when you actually try them, you are often pleasantly surprised. Of course, you have to eat the soft serve ice cream quickly, but some can be frozen, so be sure to pick up any that catch your eye.

This was also discussed in the mini-program "ARNE" that aired on Thursday, July 30, 2020, so please be sure to check out the video. (Text by Kosuko)
