Melt-in-your-mouth creamy! [Seven-Eleven] Two must-try new frozen sweets
I'm Masayo Sakamoto, a writer who loves convenience store sweets.
Frozen sweets are evolving year by year. Even at convenience stores, there are more and more luxurious frozen sweets that are different from ice cream. Unlike the cakes and sweets in the refrigerated section, which often have a short expiration date, you can stock up on them.
This time, we will also introduce how to eat two frozen sweets released by 7-Eleven in July 2023.
How do you eat frozen sweets?
The frozen sweets "Rare Cheese" (365 yen) and "Cookie Tiramisu" (365 yen) were released on Tuesday, July 18th. Both are in the frozen section, but they are cakes, not ice cream.
It's a large, flat package, about the same size as a typical single-serving cake, or maybe a little smaller.
When I took it out of the freezer and opened the lid, the surface was rock hard, so hard that I couldn't pierce it with a spoon.
In fact, this product should not be eaten immediately after opening, but rather should be thawed naturally for about 15 minutes (at room temperature, about 20°C) or in the refrigerator for about an hour (about 5°C) before being eaten.
This time, I tried thawing it naturally.
After waiting for about 15 minutes, the spoon was able to slide in easily.
I wondered if it was meant to be enjoyed for its crunchy texture, but it seems this is a dessert to be enjoyed for its "smoothness in the mouth."
Try the frozen sweets!
1: Light and refreshing! Authentic tasting "Rare Cheese"
First, let me introduce you to "rare cheese".
A simple yet authentic tasting rare cheesecake made with a crispy cookie dough and plenty of smooth rare cheese.
With one bite, the rich flavor of cheese fills your mouth. It has a solid flavor, but the acidity is not too strong and is well-balanced, leaving a clean aftertaste that lingers.
The longer it sits, the creamier it becomes, so the texture changes with each bite, which is one of the joys of eating it. I tried leaving it for an hour, and it became so soft that it almost fell off the spoon.
I recommend defrosting it for a little longer, so you can enjoy a smoother texture.
2: The bittersweet and sweet combination is addictive! "Cookie Tiramisu" with an adult taste
Next up is "Cookie Tiramisu."
A crunchy coffee-flavored cookie topped with plenty of cheese cream and bittersweet cocoa powder.
The fine cocoa powder and mild, easy-to-eat cheese cream go together perfectly!
Also, the bottom layer is made of cookie dough instead of sponge, so it is satisfying to eat.
When you scoop it up with a spoon and take a bite, the bittersweet taste, subtle sweetness, and refreshing taste of the cheese melt together in your mouth.
The contrast in texture between the melting cream and the crunchy cookies is also fun! This is a dish with a strong coffee flavor and an addictive bitter and sweet taste.
We have introduced the frozen sweets from Seven-Eleven, which also has a wide selection of frozen foods. Sometimes it's fun to take your time, prepare some delicious coffee or tea, and wait for the sweets to thaw. Be sure to check it out. (Text by Masayo Sakamoto)
