You'll be amazed at the ultimate melt-in-your-mouth texture! A specialty store for the nationwide hit "fresh warabi mochi" (Saga City)

Hello. I'm Yuri and I love sweets.

This time, we will introduce a warabimochi specialty store in Saga City.

Enjoy the creamy texture of "fresh warabimochi"! Takeout specialty store "Torori Tenshi no Warabimochi Saga Store" (Saga City)

Torori Tenshi no Warabimochi Saga Branch opened in February 2023 near the Saga University Hospital, about a 10-minute drive from JR Saga Station. It is a take-out specialty store for fresh warabimochi.

"Torori Tenshi no Warabimochi" is a hot topic all over Japan. You can enjoy a sweet treat made with this soft and creamy warabimochi, made from precious bracken powder, of which only 70g can be harvested from 10kg of the roots of the wild bracken plant.

This Saga store is the first store in Saga Prefecture. This means they have opened stores in all 47 prefectures. By the way, there are 9 stores in Fukuoka Prefecture.

"Warabimochi sweets" are addictive, with a chewy, melt-in-your-mouth texture

This is "Drinkable Warabimochi Matcha" (730 yen).

The combination of matcha and warabimochi has a warm and calming Japanese flavor. It's irresistible for matcha lovers, and is so delicious you'll want to eat it again and again!

This is the most popular item, "Drinkable Warabimochi Brown Syrup" (730 yen).

The brown sugar syrup tastes very similar to coffee, which is a flavor I personally really like.

The combination of warabimochi, brown sugar syrup, and cream felt like a blend of Japanese and Western cuisine. It had a refined sweetness and a melt-in-the-mouth deliciousness.

This "Drinkable Warabimochi" series also includes "Milk Tea" (730 yen).

The warabimochi itself has a slight sweetness, and the drink is not too sweet so as not to overwhelm it. So even though it's topped with a generous amount of whipped cream, it doesn't make you feel heavy, and you can finish it in no time.

If there is a handwritten message on the back of the cup, don't forget to take a photo!

This is "Cream Warabimochi" (450 yen each, 1,800 yen for a set of four).

The photo shows all four "plain" ones, but you can also choose the "Mix" (1,800 yen) which is "2 plain, 1 roasted green tea, and 1 black sesame" one, or you can combine your own four. *The "Mix" may not be available at some stores.

The warabimochi is topped with finely textured fresh cream, and the simple yet gentle sweetness is a delight! If you like, sprinkle the soybean flour that comes with it on top.

Since it is a frozen product, it is also recommended as a souvenir. The shelf life is 3 days from the date of purchase.

This is the "Torotoro Fresh Warabi Mochi" (650 yen).

Another nice feature is that they are bite-sized, making them easy to eat.

The kids were excited by the bouncy, springy warabimochi! They munched it down with gusto. By the way, as shown in the photo below, if there are no other customers, you can eat and drink at the photo spot inside the store (there are no chairs).

When it comes to warabimochi, I always thought that kinako (roasted soybean flour) was the go-to ingredient!

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of soybean flour, so I've rarely eaten warabimochi up until now. But Torori Tenshi no Warabimochi has completely changed my image of it, with a wide variety of variations on the dish.

I especially liked the "Drinkable Warabimochi" and want to go back soon♪ It was a collection of sweets with a "new texture" that was described as "more creamy than you can imagine" and "the ultimate creamy texture." I'm sure there's a store near you, so please check it out. (Text by Yuri-chan)
