A very popular shop in Kurume that has people lining up! Exquisite curry bread with a choice of spiciness and cream-filled malasada doughnuts
Hello. I'm Yuri and I love bread.
This time, we will introduce a takeout specialty store in Kurume City that sells curry bread and malasadas.
Limited to 300 pieces per day! Curry bread and malasada lovers should definitely visit "Curry bread specialty store FAM" (Kurume City)
"Curry Bread Specialty Shop FAM" is located a 15-minute walk from JR Kurume Daigakumae Station.
Look for the cute, photogenic exterior and the menu sign.
We opened on February 2, 2022 with the concept of "a place where everyone involved can be happy" and the desire to bring smiles to people's faces through curry bread.
As I visited during opening hours on the weekend, the display case was lined with freshly baked bread!
In addition to the standard "mild," "medium spicy," "hot," and "Kurume Curry Bread," the "Curry Bread" lineup also includes innovative curry buns made with udon broth kneaded into the dough, such as the "Tachibana Dashi Curry Bread" (250 yen) and "Tachibana Smoked Cheese Curry Bread" (300 yen), which are a collaboration with Kurume's popular udon restaurant, "Tachibana Udon"!
These are "Malasadas," a popular donut in Hawaii. In addition to the standard "Sugar," "Custard," and "Chocolate," on this day they also had "Malasada Kinako" (150 yen) and the new "Malasada An Butter" (250 yen).
There was also the "Malasada POP" (300 yen) which can be enjoyed with fruit sauce, and the limited-edition "Malasada Pineapple" (250 yen *Sales will end on August 20, 2023).
There are so many varieties that it's hard to choose.
Choose your level of spiciness! Compare and taste 4 unique types of curry bread
This time I bought seven kinds of bread. First, I'll introduce the curry bread.
Curry bread has different meat and flavors depending on the spiciness.
This is the "Sweet Curry Bread" (250 yen).
The curry contains minced pork, onions, carrots, and potatoes, and has a traditional, familiar taste.
You can feel the spice, but it's not too spicy for people who don't like spicy food. Even children can eat it. It was easy to eat and delicious!
This is the "Medium Spicy Curry Bread" (250 yen).
It contains minced Mitsuse chicken, onions, carrots, and potatoes.
It is made with a perfect balance of spices, so it is spicier than your average curry bread, but even people who don't like spicy food will find it delicious.
Red koji powder is kneaded into the dough, giving it a great visual impact!
This is the "Spicy Curry Bread" (300 yen).
It contains black curry made by simmering beef tendons, onions, carrots, potatoes, chili peppers and spices.
To be honest, it was extremely spicy. You have to be determined to eat it.
It's spicy at first, then the rich, mellow flavor of the curry comes after. Recommended for those who like spicy food!
By the way, the dough is black because it has squid ink powder mixed into it.
This is "Kurume Curry Bread" (300 yen).
It is said that "Chikuzenni" is simmered with medium-spicy curry. The spiciness is somewhere between "medium-spicy" and "hot."
It has a Japanese taste and is a completely different flavor from the curry breads I've introduced so far. It is a blend of various spices, and it tastes more like a curry bread from a curry specialty store than a curry bread from a bakery, and it was absolutely delicious!
The curry bread dough is chewy and crispy on the outside. I was impressed that it didn't get oily even when it cooled down.
Great as a gift! Check out the fluffy malasadas too!
These malasadas have a rich dough made from 100% butter, giving them a chewy texture.
We tried the three classic flavors and compared them. The little cream peeks are cute.
The "Malasada Sugar" (150 yen) on the bottom left of the photo is crispy on the outside and fluffy and chewy on the inside! It brings back some nostalgic memories.
The children were also munching away, their mouths covered in sugar.
The "Malasada Chocolate" (200 yen) in the middle of the photo is filled with homemade chocolate custard, which is made by adding bitter chocolate to smooth custard. With a smooth and light texture, it is sure to satisfy both children and adults!
The "Malasada Custard" (200 yen) on the bottom right of the photo is filled with homemade custard and has just the right amount of sweetness! It will make you feel happy♪
It's also perfect as a reward for yourself or as a gift.
Some items are limited to 300 per day and sell out quickly. We recommend visiting early. Be sure to check it out! (Text by Yuri-chan)
