This time, we will introduce a delicious bakery that opened in April 2023.
The menu specializes in seafood! A small bakery specializing in takeout: "Seafood Bread Takadaya" (Hakataeki Chuo-gai, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City)
"Takadaya Seafood Bread" is located on the first floor of the "13th Taihei Building", a one-minute walk from the Chikushi exit of JR Hakata Station.
I was a little nervous because there wasn't a particularly eye-catching sign, but I went inside.
After walking a little further, you will see a fish sign, which is the landmark of the restaurant.
In fact, this shop is a bakery started by Takadaya Kahei, a fish shop that has been dealing in fresh seafood from the Genkai Sea and the waters off Kyushu for nearly 50 years within Hakata Station.
As the name "Seafood Bread Takadaya" suggests, this is a takeout specialty store that offers bread made with Kyushu seafood and ingredients.
After much deliberation, they thought about how they could convey their thoughts: "Since our restaurant is located in Fukuoka, where the fish is so delicious, we want people to eat fish in a different way," and "We want to stop people from moving away from fish, even just a little." They finally came up with "bread," which is loved by people of all ages and genders.
The menu changes depending on the day and ends when all the bread is sold out. The lineup for that day is about 5 to 10 types, which are lined up on top of the stacked bread case.
Produced by the "world's best pasta chef"! Exquisite bread with a delicious sauce
The menu was produced by Chef Yamada Takeshi, who was the first ever world champion at a competition held in Italy in 2012 to decide the world's best pasta chef. When developing the bread, Chef Yamada suggested that the secret to making the bread and fish go well together was in the sauce, so they asked him.
This time I'd like to introduce the six types I received.
Fukusaya's Fresh Mentaiko Milk French Bread
Of the 10 or so varieties on the menu, the one that caught my eye the most was "Fukusaya's Fresh Mentaiko Milk French Bread" (250 yen).
The soft French bread is filled with plenty of fresh cream and Fukusaya's Spicy Fish Eggs, which goes really well together.
The balance of sweet and salty is just right, making this a bread you can eat over and over again.
Seafood Neapolitan Hot Dog
I was attracted by its delicious and appetizing appearance and purchased the "Seafood Neapolitan Hot Dog" (330 yen).
Neapolitan and bread are a classic combination. Filled with shrimp, it's very satisfying. It's also perfect for lunch.
Balsamic sauteed mackerel and grilled onion sandwich
This is a gourmet seafood burger called "Mackerel Sautéed in Balsamic Vinegar and Grilled Onion Sandwich." It is a sandwich of slowly cooked onions and mackerel sautéed in balsamic vinegar.
From the first bite, I could taste the balsamic, sweet and sour, with a hint of fruitiness, and I finished it in no time.
Tomato-boiled whelk sandwich
"Whelk and Tomato Stew Sandwich" (330 yen) is an Italian-style sandwich made with whelk and vegetables stewed with tomatoes. The basil-flavored mayonnaise on top adds a nice accent!
To be honest, I don't usually like shellfish, but this sandwich was delicious even for me! I was surprised at how different the cooking method and seasoning can make such a difference!
Shrimp and coriander sweet chili sandwich
The "Shrimp and Coriander Sweet Chili Sandwich" (330 yen) is sold as an "Asian-style sandwich for coriander lovers." Coriander lovers will love it.
It contains plump shrimp, sweet chili sauce, and basil.
Smoked salmon croissant sandwich
The only croissant menu item I purchased this time was the Smoked Salmon Croissant Sandwich (480 yen).
The perfect combination of smoked salmon and sour cream is accented with the refreshing acidity and aroma of lemon.

You can make a reservation and payment online, and then make a "take-out reservation" to pick up at the store. Popular items may sell out in the morning, so if there's something you definitely want, we recommend making a reservation ♡ *Orders placed before 11pm will be picked up on the next business day (orders placed after 11pm will be picked up on the following business day), and all orders placed between 11pm on Thursday and 11pm on Sunday will be picked up on Monday.
It's great for a picnic in the park, or as a gift or for a home party.
They provide wrapping paper so you can easily eat it outside.
They are delicious because they use carefully selected ingredients and make each one by hand in the store!
The bread sold here is handmade one by one in the shop. It is prepared in a way that only a fishmonger who knows the ingredients inside out can do, allowing you to enjoy the aroma of the sea in your nose and the delicious taste of seafood that fills your mouth.
We also bake breads such as soft French bread, French bread, and croissants freshly in-store every day.
The crispy texture and fluffy mouthfeel of the freshly baked bread is irresistible.
