A must-visit spot for sightseeing in Yanagawa! "Authentic French cuisine prepared by a former hotel head chef" now available for dinner in addition to lunch
Hello. I'm Mai Ito, an FBS announcer.
This time, we will introduce the restaurants that were visited on the "Ah ne! Like! Live" segment of FBS Fukuoka Broadcasting's "Mentai Wide."
Right next to the moat where Yanagawa's famous river boat ride takes place! French cuisine in a relaxing and comfortable old-fashioned house at "BISTRO tanabata" (Yanagawa City)
Yanagawa City in Fukuoka Prefecture is famous for its picturesque scenery and river boat rides.
Located right next to Hiyoshi Shrine, which is said to be the main shrine of Yanagawa, is BISTRO Tanabata, which we will introduce today. The restaurant opened in September 2022.
The shop is a renovated 90-year-old traditional Japanese house, and its appearance fits perfectly with the scenery of Yanagawa.
The interior of the restaurant is designed to retain the good old atmosphere of the time, with tables spaced far apart to allow for comfortable relaxation.
Guests can enjoy their meals while looking out at the spacious garden.
On this occasion, there were also Tanabata decorations, which the shop is named after.
Sagemon, a Yanagawa specialty, are displayed throughout the year.
Enjoy Yanagawa-raised Kuroge Wagyu beef! A hearty roast beef bowl lunch
Here are some popular lunch menu items.
"Superb! Roast beef bowl made with bountiful Wagyu beef" (1,800 yen with salad and soup).
The black-haired wagyu beef is raised at the local "Hosaku Farm" in Yanagawa City. It is fed mineral-rich rice straw grown on the farm, giving it a strong umami flavor.
The rich flavor and flavour that spreads beyond the soft, supple texture is addictively delicious!
The chicken-based sauce goes extremely well with the roast beef, and when mixed with the egg yolk it adds a mellow flavor that makes it very satisfying to eat.
There are also sweets made using bread from a popular Yame store.
"BISTRO tanabata" is the perfect place for a short break while sightseeing in Yanagawa, and also offers a full cafe menu.
This is a set of "Melon Bread Ice Cream" (700 yen) and a drink (plus 350 yen).
The coffee used is beans from "KAMAKIRI COFFEE" located in Fukuoka city.
A hearty sweet consisting of ice cream sandwiched between crispy melon bread.
This melon bread is from Olivier Rain, a popular store in Yame City. The owner, who trained at Pan Stock, runs this store, which is known for its additive-free bread made with local ingredients. At BISTRO Tanabata, Olivier Rain's bread is not only used in dishes and sweets, but is also sold in the store, so you can buy it as a souvenir.
This is the "Tanabata Parfait" (1,200 yen), which uses seasonal fruits.
At this time, grapes and Shine Muscat grapes were used in abundance (as of August 4th, Shine Muscat grapes were used). The juicy texture is the best.
Dinner service starts in June! Enjoy authentic French cuisine at reasonable prices
Since opening, we have only been open for lunch and as a cafe, but from late June 2023, we will also start serving dinner! In line with this, the store name will change from "Tanabata Bakery Cafe" to "BISTORO Tanabata"!
You can now enjoy authentic French cuisine prepared by a chef who was the head chef at Hotel Il Palazzo in Fukuoka City. In the evening, you can order a la carte dishes or a banquet course.
This is "Wagyu beef cheek stewed in red wine" (1,400 yen).
This dish is made by stewing cheek meat, a rare cut of cow - only 1-2kg of which can be obtained from one cow - for two days in several types of wine and liqueur.
It's so soft that it crumbles easily when you cut into it with a knife, and the flavor has permeated deep into the fibers.
It goes perfectly with the mashed potatoes that come with it! It's so delicious it'll go great with wine.
This is "Shrimp cream stew in a bread case" (1,600 yen).
Bread gratin filled with plump shrimp. The cream sauce contains plenty of lobster extract, so you can enjoy the full flavor of the shrimp. Truly authentic French cuisine!
It goes perfectly with the Olivier Rain bread that is used as the bowl for the gratin!
The restaurant is located just a short walk from the moat along which Yanagawa's famous river boat ride takes place, and you can watch the boat ride down the river from the terrace seats in the garden.
BISTRO tanabata has become even more appealing with the addition of lunch and cafe hours as well as evening openings.
It looks like you can enjoy a new way of enjoying yourself by touring Yanagawa during the day and then having dinner at the end! (Text by Mai Ito)
