Costco expert Kosuko's top picks! 3 recommended ingredients to buy for your summer barbecue

Hello! I'm Kosuko, a housewife who loves the members-only warehouse store Costco.

Summer means BBQ! Costco has a wide selection of American ingredients that you won't find in other stores.

So, this time I'll introduce three recommended Costco items that are sure to be a hit at your BBQ.

Overflowing with delicious flavor! "American chilled beef tongue, thickly sliced, for yakiniku"

Everyone loves beef tongue! It's often thought of as a slightly more expensive cut on the menu at yakiniku restaurants, but you can buy it at a reasonable price at Costco.

Our recommendation is the "American chilled beef tongue thick slices for yakiniku" (598 yen/100g).

Costco sells beef tongue in chunks under the name "Kawamukitan Vacuum Pack," but if you're planning on using it for a BBQ, the "Yakitori" version is more convenient as it's already cut to the perfect size. Just remove the plastic wrap and grill it on a wire rack! It's super easy.

Each pack contains about 600g to 800g, which is enough to satisfy 4-5 adults.

Each piece is large, cut thick at over 5mm, and beautifully marbled. Once you grill both sides and take a bite, the flavor bursts out.

It's thick, yet crunchy, and surprisingly soft and delicious! It's got just the right amount of fat, but a refreshing taste, without any greasy or unpleasant odor.

If you bring this to a BBQ, you can enjoy the unusual luxury of having beef tongue spread all over the grill!

Since it's a bulk purchase, it may seem a little pricey, but once you've tasted Costco's beef tongue, you'll be amazed at how good the cost performance is, and it will seem a waste to order it at the store.

A great quick meal that you can eat right away! "BBQ Chicken Wings"

When it comes to BBQ, it's not just about food that can be grilled on a grill or hot plate, but also quick meals that can be eaten immediately by simply opening the lid are important.

These are "BBQ Chicken Wings" (188 yen/100g) sold at Costco's hot deli. The container is filled with pre-cooked domestic chicken wings. They are always piping hot when placed on the shelves, so you can eat them immediately after purchasing.

When you open the lid, the delicious aroma of sweet and spicy BBQ sauce wafts out.

It's just a generous serving of meat. Its wild and impactful appearance makes it perfect for an outdoor BBQ!

Each piece is a standard-sized chicken wing, measuring about 7 to 8 cm, making it easy for people of all ages to pick up and eat.

So, they can be used for a variety of purposes, from satisfying your hunger before preparing for a BBQ, to a menu for children, or as a snack to go with alcohol.

The seasoning is a sweet and spicy BBQ sauce. It's not too sweet or salty, but just the right amount to bring out the flavor of the meat. The subtle smoky aroma will whet your appetite.

The meat is so juicy, tender and flavorful that you'll want to eat several pieces.

Taking advantage of the benefits of hot delivery, for example, you could make a detour to Costco to buy this just before heading to a camping or BBQ venue, and then when you arrive, everyone can gather around the container and enjoy it together.

Another recommended point is that it can be used as an ice pack! "Maruchan Salt Boiled Edamame"

The last product we would like to introduce is "Maruchan Salted Boiled Edamame 1.5kg" (798 yen), sold in the frozen section of Costco.

Frozen edamame can be purchased at any store, so you might think there's no need to go out of your way to buy them at Costco, but in fact, Costco's frozen edamame is highly recommended.

These edamame beans are extremely large! The 1.5kg bag is about the same size as a bag of rice.

The quality is good, the fruit is large and meaty, it is a vibrant dark green, very sweet and delicious!

Since it is boiled in salt and then flash frozen, it is salty enough even when thawed naturally and can be eaten as is without adding anything.

These delicious edamame beans are sold at an exceptionally reasonable price, making them a very cost-effective product.

When it comes to BBQ, you need to prepare raw ingredients such as meat, fish, and vegetables, and many people probably buy these ingredients at Costco. In that case, you will need ice packs.

If you put 1.5kg of Maruchan Salted Boiled Edamame in your cooler box along with your fresh food, it becomes an edible ice pack that will keep your food fresh even under the scorching heat of summer.

By the time the ice has finished its usefulness, it will have melted just enough that you can take it out and enjoy it as a beer snack or appetizer.

There are few people who don't like edamame, and it is a food that is loved by everyone from children to adults, so even if you buy a large amount, it rarely goes to waste. If you choose it when you want to buy one more item at Costco, you will be surprised at how convenient it is.
