Thick espuma cream with innovative toppings! A new kind of shaved ice that tastes like a cake (Nakasu, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City)
Hello♪ I'm chippachapus and I love going to cafes.
This time, we will introduce you to cafes and bars where you can enjoy shaved ice, a summer must-have, in a new way!
A stylish space that looks picturesque no matter where you look ♡ A sparkling and otherworldly cafe and bar "THE LIVELY Fukuoka Hakata" (Nakasu, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City)
THE LIVELY Fukuoka Hakata is located in Nakasu, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City, a one-minute walk from Nakasu-Kawabata Station on the Subway Airport Line.
This is Fukuoka's first lifestyle hotel, offering not only accommodation but also a variety of services including living, working, dining, and fashion.
It attracts many tourists not only from within and outside the prefecture, but also from overseas.
This time we will be introducing "THE LIVELY BAR", located in the lobby lounge on the first floor of the hotel.
From 2pm to 11pm, it operates as a cafe and bar that can be used by non-guests as well.
The first thing that catches your eye as you enter is the extraordinary space where digital art and light bulbs sparkle. It's also a popular photo spot.
When using the cafe, you can enjoy your meal in the public space as well as at the counter seats.
The stylish design is reminiscent of something you'd find overseas. Be sure to check out the art installations inspired by Hakata.
Pies, cookies, and dumplings make a big impact! A new sensation of "shaved ice" with creamy espuma cream and daifuku.
"THE LIVELY Fukuoka Hakata" offers original sweets for each season and event with the theme of "Emode (Emotional x Mode)". It also offers a new way to enjoy the hotel through food.
This is the "Espuma Daifuku Shaved Ice" (1,000 yen each), available for a limited time until Thursday, August 31, 2023.
From the left, there are three flavors: "Strawberry Daifuku Milk Shaved Ice," "Brown Sugar Daifuku Milk Shaved Ice," and "Matcha Daifuku Milk Shaved Ice." Each flavor is topped with pie, dumpling, and cookie, which makes a big impact.
I'll introduce them one by one.
The "Strawberry Daifuku Milk Shaved Ice" is topped with plenty of strawberries, strawberry powder, Yukimi Daifuku, pie, custard espuma, and strawberry sauce.
The toppings are a combination of crispy pie, chewy daifuku, and sweet and sour strawberries that you can enjoy both the taste and texture.
The custard espuma cream was rich and sweet with a rich milky taste, and went perfectly with the slightly sweet and sour strawberry sauce.
As you eat it, fresh custard, sponge cake, and Yukimi Daifuku appear from inside. Condensed milk and strawberry sauce are also poured on several layers, so it's delicious no matter where you eat it.
Condensed milk is also served separately, so you can enjoy it whenever you like.
The shaved ice was just like a shortcake.
This is the "Brown Sugar Daifuku Milk Shaved Ice."
From top to bottom: mitarashi dango, brown sugar sauce, Yukimi daifuku, soybean flour, brown sugar espuma cream, and milk sauce.
In addition, it comes with a separate serving of brown sugar syrup sauce, which you can pour generously over for an even richer flavor.
The mitarashi dango is grilled until it is crispy on the outside and coated in a sweet and spicy sauce. It is chewy and crunchy, and is bite-sized, so I ate it all up in no time.
The espuma cream and sauce allow you to fully enjoy the taste of brown sugar syrup. The milk sauce is slightly sweet and has a clean aftertaste.
As I continued to eat this, fresh custard, sponge cake, and Yukimi Daifuku appeared from inside, giving it the luxurious feel of a cake.
Next up is the "Matcha Daifuku Milk Shaved Ice."
From top to bottom: brown sugar sauce, cookie bar, matcha powder, matcha espuma cream, and milk sauce.
The cookie bar consists of moist and crispy matcha cookies sandwiched with red bean paste and cream.
The matcha espuma cream was rich and had an authentic taste with a strong astringency of matcha.
The shaved ice was topped with brown sugar syrup and milk sauce, which had a mild flavor that went perfectly with the richness of the matcha cream.
Brown sugar syrup sauce is served separately, so if you like sweet things, we recommend adding more as you go to adjust the sweetness.
As you eat it, you'll find red bean paste, fresh custard, Yukimi Daifuku, matcha ice cream, and sponge cake inside.
Each shaved ice is filled with sponge cake, ice cream, daifuku, and other ingredients, and is structured like a cake or parfait so that you can enjoy it all the way to the last bite.
The cafe is only available for eat-in, but hotel guests can also enjoy room service.
In addition to shaved ice, you can also order standard sweets such as "Oreo Tiramisu," "Hojicha Cheesecake," and "Black Sesame Pudding," as shown in the photo, and "Fallen Ice," an upside-down cone.
Be sure to try the new sensation of shaved ice and sweets at THE LIVELY Fukuoka Hakata this summer! (Text by chippachapus)
