The creamy texture is amazing! The illustrations drawn with soybean flour are also innovative "Freshly made warabimochi" (Kitano-cho, Kurume City)

Hello♪ I'm chippachapus and I love going to cafes.

This time, we will introduce the new lunch-only menu of "SUMIBIYAKI SYAKAN" located in Imayama, Kitano-cho, Kurume City!

Japanese sweets for lunch and charcoal grilled food for dinner! A traditional Japanese restaurant with a great atmosphere, "SUMIBIYAKI SYAKAN" (Kitano-cho, Kurume City)

"SUMIBIYAKI SYAKAN" is located a 5-minute walk from Kitano Station on the Nishitetsu Amagi Line.

This is an authentic charcoal grill restaurant where you can enjoy dishes such as "dango" (rice dumplings) and "warabi mochi" (bracken-starch dumplings) for lunch, and "charcoal grilled chicken" and "rice cooked in a pot" for dinner.

The lunch menu item "Warabimochi" will be added on June 9, 2023.

The restaurant is housed in a renovated 100-year-old traditional Japanese house, with seating divided between tables on the first floor and tatami rooms on the second floor.

The walls and floors were hand-finished by the owner, who is also a plasterer, and give the space a lovely, tasteful atmosphere.

The freshly made, gooey texture is the best ♡ "Warabimochi" dipped in illustrations made with soybean flour

The "Warabimochi Gozen" (850 yen) that we will introduce this time comes with a set of warabimochi, kinako (roasted soybean flour), black sesame, brown sugar syrup, and tea.

This illustration is actually drawn with soybean flour.

The designs are original and were created by a designer who is an acquaintance of the store owner, and there are four different types available, all of which are chosen randomly.

Warabimochi is made after an order is placed, so you can enjoy it fresh.

No preservatives are used and the food is made with carefully selected ingredients.

It was freshly made, so it was warm and melt-in-your-mouth! It had a strange texture that seemed to melt in your mouth.

It has a slight sweetness, so it's delicious even if you eat it without adding anything.

You can eat it however you like, but I would recommend you first slide the warabimochi over the illustration and then dip it in plenty of kinako before eating.

I was excited by the innovative style that I had never seen before.

The soybean flour was slightly salty and went perfectly with the gently sweet warabimochi.

We also recommend adding brown sugar syrup to change up the flavor.

Black sesame has an irresistible fragrant flavor.

It's also good to add the soybean flour, black sesame seeds, and brown sugar syrup all at once.

I enjoyed trying all sorts of different combinations and ways of eating it.

The crispy and fragrant "Bake your own dumplings set" and the "Colorful dumplings set" that lets you compare different fillings are also very popular!

This is a set of two types of dumplings that can only be ordered at lunchtime.

The first one is the "Bake Your Own Dango Meal" (850 yen).

It comes with 5 plain dango, soybean flour, red bean paste, mitarashi sauce, tea, and pickles.

The dumplings are pre-cooked slightly, but you can cook them to your desired doneness using the special charcoal grill.

The crispy, fragrant taste of the charcoal grilling was really good. Once it's done, feel free to add any condiment you like to it.

It comes with six dango dumplings, soybean flour, brown sugar syrup, tea, and pickles.

Each dumpling is topped with bean paste, so you can try six different types at once.

From the left, they are red bean butter, zunda, matcha, sweet potato, brown sugar kinako, and mitarashi.

It's great that you can enjoy eating the warabimochi and dango by dipping them in the kinako illustrations or baking them yourself.

Lunchtime is only available on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and reservations can be made in advance. Space is limited, so reservations are guaranteed.
