A whole thick and tender eel! "A great way to reward yourself" - exquisite steamed eel (Oki Town)
Hello. I am Yorimichi, the owner of the blog "Yorimichi's Fukuoka Introduction," which introduces delicious restaurants in Fukuoka.
This time, we will introduce an eel restaurant located in Okimachi, about an hour's drive from the center of Fukuoka City.
50 years of preserving traditional flavors! An eel restaurant with a homely atmosphere: "Unagidokoro Tamakiya" (Oki Town, Mizuma District)
"Unagidokoro Tamakiya" is located in Oogi Town, Mizuma County, Fukuoka Prefecture.
Originally operating in Yanagawa for 30 years, it has been 21 years since it moved to this location. It is a historic eel restaurant that has been preserving the traditional flavor for over 50 years.
The interior of the store is a space that makes use of the old building. Ah, it's great! It's really great.
It feels like home, like a safe place like home; it's just so comfortable.
This restaurant is run by a father and son, so we recommend making a reservation if possible.
Check out the menu!
Let's take a look at the menu that catches your eye.
The lunch menu, available only on weekdays from 12:00 to 15:00, includes the "Seiromushi Lunch (Bamboo)" (2,400 yen), which includes three slices of eel in a steamed bamboo steamer, liver soup, a side dish, dessert, and coffee, and the "Yokkori Lunch" (3,600 yen), which includes grilled and unglazed eel, white rice, a side dish, dessert, and coffee.
During other times, there are other dishes such as "Seiromushi" (half size 2,600 yen, regular size 3,150 yen, high-grade 3,800 yen, and premium 4,500 yen and up) which comes with a side dish, liver soup, and pickles, "Unagi-don" (eel bowl) which comes with a side dish, liver soup, and pickles (regular size 3,150 yen, high-grade 3,700 yen), "Kabayaki set meal" (regular size 3,700 yen, high-grade 5,000 yen) and "Unglazed set meal" (regular size 3,700 yen, high-grade 4,500 yen) which come with rice, liver soup, and pickles, as well as "Kabayaki" and "Unglazed" (half a fish 1,550 yen each, whole fish 3,050 yen), "Uzak (grilled with sauce/unglazed/moromi/ Spicy Fish Eggs)" (900 yen each), "Unagi rice rice ball (2 pieces)" (600 yen), "Seared eel The restaurant offers a variety of a la carte dishes, including "Miso Salad" (900 yen) and "Chawanmushi (with eel)" (550 yen).
I ordered the special "Steamed bamboo steamer"!
This time, I decided to go for the "Seiromushi" (special edition, 4,500 yen).
Let's savor each bite.
First, three small side dishes and pickles arrived.
There's eel in the small bowl too.
This has really got me excited.
And when it comes to eel restaurants, the things I look forward to are "uzaku (a vinegared dish of cucumber and eel)" and "kimo-soup."
Ahh... the liver soup is seeping into my whole body.
It took me 30 years to realize how delicious this is.
And finally, the premium steamed sushi arrived.
Wow! What is this?!
It comes with a thick, meaty eel cut in half. It's so luxurious!
The scent is just irresistible.
The best part of steaming rice is the rice soaked in sauce.
Every bite makes me sigh.
The eel was also very soft and delicious. Ahh, I'm so happy.
And as I continued eating, I discovered that it had two layers!
There was an eel hiding between the rice! What a pleasant surprise.
I highly recommend you try it at least once. It's so delicious it will blow away all your worries and fatigue.
Weekday-only lunch menu "Greedy Lunch"
We will also introduce the weekday-only lunch menu "Greedy Lunch" (3,600 yen), which includes a set of grilled and unglazed eel, white rice, a small side dish, dessert, and coffee.
Wrap the unglazed eel in seaweed...like this.
This is definitely something to drink.
The natural deliciousness of the eel spreads throughout your mouth.
Now, let's have some grilled eel.
Of course it's delicious to eat it as is, but I like to eat eel on rice, so I put as much on as I can.
She's really plump.
I like steamed eels, but the flavor of the sauce on the well-grilled kabayaki is also good.
So, thank you for the meal.
Wow, the sauce, which has been infused with over 50 years of history, was truly delicious.
It's also recommended as a reward for yourself for your hard work, or as a celebration for your child's passing! It's a shop that you can easily use as it offers takeaway. Please give Yorimitsu a try! (Text by Yorimitsu)
