[Yakuin Lunch] Available for both lunch and dinner! A Japanese sweets shop where you can enjoy delicious set meals (Shirogane, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)
Hello. I'm ayu.latte, a writer who loves delicious food and sweets.
This time, we will introduce a wonderful Japanese sweets shop that is also popular for its delicious set meals.
"Wagashi Ensa" is a Japanese sweets shop where you can enjoy lunch in an open atmosphere (Shirokane, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)
The place we visited was "Wagashi Enza" located in Shirokane, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City.
When I asked about the origin of the restaurant's name, I learned that the owner's father is a Rakugo performer named San'yutei Enza IV, and that the name comes from him.
There are three tables in the restaurant, one for two and one for four.
The natural light pours in through the large windows, creating a very open atmosphere.
Here you can enjoy a delicious lunch and Japanese sweets.
It's hard to decide which one to choose! There are so many delicious looking Japanese sweets♡
The owner's wife's family owns a Japanese sweets shop, so when the restaurant first opened it started out as an izakaya where you could also eat Japanese sweets. It is now open as a restaurant that serves Japanese sweets and set meals.
Japanese sweets are lined up in a space decorated with soft orange lighting.
Some eye-catching items are the cute, perfectly round "Ankodama" (194 yen, the top three in the photo below) and the transparent, dome-shaped "Kingyokukan Kajitsu" (227 yen, the bottom two in the photo below).
There are also many other cute small Japanese sweets available, such as "Daifuku Strawberry" (313 yen), "Daifuku Shiomame" (227 yen), "Manju Shirokane" (184 yen), and "Mizu Manju" (250 yen), going clockwise from the top right.
Great for lunch or dinner! A set menu that can be enjoyed at any time
Although it is a Japanese sweets shop, you can order set meals at any time.
There are various options, from the "Single Set Meal" where you can choose one side dish, the "Double Choice Set Meal" (1,350 yen) where you can choose two dishes, and the "Triple Choice Set Meal" (1,750 yen) where you can choose three dishes, so everyone from small eaters to those who want to eat a lot can enjoy it ♡
Single set meals are available from seven options: "Shio Koji Fried Chicken Set Meal" (900 yen), "Ginger Pork Set Meal" (900 yen), "Spicy Miso Pork Set Meal" (900 yen), "Salted Lemon and Stir-fried Vegetables Set Meal" (950 yen), "Chicken Nanban Set Meal" (1,000 yen), "Mackerel Boiled in Rice Bran Set Meal" (1,050 yen), and "Salted Mackerel Set Meal" (1,050 yen).
This time we went as a group of two, so we ordered two of the most popular "Single Set Meals."
First up is the most popular "Chicken Nanban Set Meal."
It contains three large pieces of fried chicken, making it very filling. The homemade sweet and sour sauce and generous amount of tartar sauce are excellent! It's so tasty that you'll want to eat as many as you like.
For those who are concerned about not getting enough vegetables, we recommend the "Salt and Lemon Stir-fried Vegetables Set Meal."
The salt sauce is already light, but adding a squeeze of lemon makes it even more refreshing. It's perfect for the upcoming hot season.
Of course, it also contains plenty of pork.
By the way, the "Ginger Pork" and "Spicy Miso Pork" dishes are also said to be dishes that allow you to enjoy plenty of vegetables.
All set meals come with vegetable salad, pork miso soup, rice, and two small side dishes.
The salad that day also had prosciutto and the Caesar dressing was perfect! It had just the right amount of saltiness, making it easy to eat.
Another great thing about pork soup is that it contains plenty of vegetables such as burdock.
You can choose between white or black rice, and small or large portions (the photo shows a small portion of black rice).
For dessert after your meal, be sure to try some Japanese sweets!
After your meal, you can also choose to have a set with Japanese sweets and a drink.
A soft drink set costs an additional 300 yen, a Japanese sweets set starts from 350 yen, and a soft drink and Japanese sweets set starts from 600 yen (price varies depending on the number of Japanese sweets you add). You can also add ice cream, zenzai, warabimochi, and other sweets to your set.
This time I ordered "One type of Japanese miso soup and a soft drink."
These are "Iced Coffee" and "Ankodama Gyokuro." They also pay a lot of attention to the containers, and this time the "Ankodama" was cutely presented on a cubic base.
"Ankodama Gyokuro" has gyokuro tea kneaded into it, so the moment you bite into it, the aroma of tea fills your nose. It has a sweet yet refreshing taste.
I was torn between tea and coffee, but it surprisingly went perfectly with the red bean paste!
This is "Kingyokukan Fruit Pineapple & Peach". It is a translucent, refreshing yokan that lets you see the fruit inside. You can feel the sweet and sour taste of pineapple and the sweetness of peach, and it is refreshing.
This is paired with roasted green tea. It goes perfectly with tea!
In addition to set meals, there are also Japanese sweets and drink sets available for 750 to 1,200 yen.
Why not stop by to enjoy a delicious lunch and some comforting Japanese sweets? (Text by ayu.latte)
