Experience an extraordinary experience at a temple! Cute sweets galore ♡ A stylish cafe known only to those in the know (Tojinmachi, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City)
Hello! I'm hicho_cafe, who introduces cafes in Fukuoka on Instagram.
This time, we will introduce a rare cafe run by a temple.
A space where you can spend a relaxing time! Temple Cafe Awamo, run by Myohoji Temple (Tojinmachi, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City)
Tera Cafe Awamo is located within the grounds of the Nichiren sect Keiunzan Myohoji Temple, a 7-minute walk from Exit 4 of Tojinmachi Station on the subway.
The head priest opened this shop with the idea that "I wanted to create a place where all those who lead busy lives can take a break from work, housework, and the many other things that come their way and feel at ease."
The restaurant was named "Awamo (= pale clouds)" with the hope that it would be a place where people can have a calm and gentle mind like a cloud.
There was also a picture of a cloud on the shop curtain.
There are sunken kotatsu seats on the raised area inside the restaurant where you can relax.
There are also private rooms available, so if you have a large group, it might be a good idea to sit in one of these seats.
There are also counter seats, making it an easy place to visit even if you're alone.
There was a cute cloud motif decoration on the wall.
You can also spend some relaxing time looking out at the garden.
These adorable cloud-themed sweets are a must-try!
We ordered the popular "Awamo Set" and "Special Temple Parfait Set."
This is the "Awamo Set" (1,300 yen), which comes with an eye-catching white cloud-shaped dish that is a reference to "Awamo (light clouds)."
When I opened the lid, there was tiramisu and ice cream inside.
The slightly bitter tiramisu and rich vanilla ice cream are alternated for a well-balanced treat that's delicious down to the last bite.
This set comes with sugar candy and a drink.
There were also colorful and cute confetti on the cloud-shaped plate.
For drinks, you can choose from "Special Keiun Coffee" or "Matcha."
For an additional 50 yen you can change to "Special Iced Coffee", and for an additional 100 yen you can change to "Cafe au Lait (HOT/ICE)" or "Matcha au Lait (HOT/ICE)".
On this day, I selected the "Matcha Au Lait (HOT)".
Each order is carefully made using matcha from Hoshinomura, Yame City.
The gradation is beautiful and the look is mesmerizing!
The gentle sweetness and natural bitterness of matcha were well balanced, leaving me with a warm and relaxing feeling.
The "Special Temple Parfait Set" (1,850 yen) is available from 11:00. It comes with a set of confetti and a drink.
The monaka wafers on top of the parfait also have a cute cloud mark branded into them.
In addition to the monaka, the sandwich contains shiratama (rice flour dumplings), azuki beans, brown sugar kinako ice cream, matcha ice cream, popped rice crackers, warabimochi (bracken-starch dumplings), and matcha agar.
It's 25cm and very satisfying!
The monaka had a nice crunchy texture and was even more delicious when topped with red beans and ice cream.
It was my first time eating a parfait containing popped rice, and the light and fragrant taste was a nice accent to the sweet parfait.
The drink, "Special "Keiun" Coffee," is hand-dripped after an order is placed.
The beans used are carefully selected from the branch of Myohoji Temple in Itoshima City, and are roasted before being used.
It has no unpleasant flavors and is refreshing and easy to drink.
Take-out is also recommended on sunny days.
Drinks and some sweets, such as the "Apple Juice" (400 yen) and "Cafe au Lait (ICE)" (600 yen) shown in the photo, are available for takeout.
For take-out, there is a counter outside the store where you can order.
There are clouds even at the foot of the takeout counter!
There are clouds in many places, so it's fun to find them ♪
You can also eat your takeaway drinks and sweets on the chairs in front of the shop.
Don't miss the weekend and holiday specials!
Be sure to check out the "Black and White Coffee Dessert" (350 yen), which is only available on weekends and holidays.
This dessert uses a generous amount of specially made iced coffee, giving it a rich, aromatic flavor. The mellow white blancmange also gives off a rich coffee aroma.
This restaurant offers both eat-in and take-out options.
Enjoy the unique features of a temple cafe
Amazingly, this cafe even gives out Myohoji temple stamps (500 yen).
I'm also looking forward to the limited-edition seasonal designs that will be released!
Apparently many people take photos of their goshuin in the garden or in front of the noren curtain.
