Worth the trip! "The famous straw-grilled fish is a must-try" at this popular seafood izakaya run by a fishmonger with 50 years of history (Shingu Town)

Hello! I'm Ponmika, a sake lover who aims to be a bridge between izakayas and alcohol lovers (I also work as "PanMika", a bread lover).

This time, we will introduce "Third Generation Fishmonger Nino Inase" in Shingu Town, Kasuya District.

Just a two-minute walk from JR Fukukodai-mae Station! A popular izakaya where fish-loving adults gather: "Uoya Sandaime Shino Inase" (Shingu Town, Kasuya District)

"Sandaime Shino Inase Fish Shop" is conveniently located about 15 minutes by rapid train from JR Hakata Station, and a 2-minute walk from Fukukodai-mae Station.

This is an izakaya where you can enjoy extremely fresh seafood delivered directly from the fishing port. The second and third generations, who inherited the will of the first generation who was a fish peddler, say, "I want people to eat fresh fish from the Genkai Sea and the local Kanezaki," and they procure seafood with a keen eye that makes use of the experience and track record they have gained over 50 years as a fishmonger.

The store has a stylish exterior. Through the glass, you can see rows of sake bottles lined up.

There's lots of fresh, seasonal seafood! There are so many ways to eat it, you'll discover something new every time you go!

When ordering, first ask the staff "Today's recommended seafood."

You can also learn how to eat it as sashimi or grilled over straw. Prices vary depending on the season and what's available, so please use the prices as a guide only.

The "Natural Sea Bream with Sesame Soy Sauce" (1,078 yen) is a must-try dish. The homemade sesame sauce and sea bream go perfectly together.

You should also try the "Nishi no Aji Fry" (968 yen). It is a large, thick, deep-fried horse mackerel from Nagasaki that is delicious when eaten with tartar sauce. It goes even better with alcohol.

This restaurant is also famous for its delicious straw-grilled and robatayaki dishes.

If you sit at the counter, you can watch the fish being prepared and grilled up close. The grilling process is very impressive, with large flames rising from the air.

We recommend eating the "Straw-Grilled Bonito" (1,078 yen) with seasonal sake. The aroma of straw and the accent of garlic bring out the flavor of the bonito.

"Charcoal Grilled Chicken" (858 yen), made with three different parts of domestic chicken (giblets, thigh meat, and breast meat), also goes well with sake.

A collection of exquisite items that sake lovers will love!

This shop also has an attractive selection of sake. The brands they stock change depending on the season, so if you ask them for a recommendation based on your meal, they'll give you some advice. It's an exciting moment for sake lovers.

I visited in spring, so the lineup had changed, but I'd like to introduce the sake I had that day.

"Kurotonbo" (825 yen) is a seasonal product that is only available once a year from Fukuoka's "Wakanami Sake Brewery." It is a freshly made "special pure rice unfiltered raw sake" that is only shipped in spring.

This is also a limited edition item, "Torottoro" (825 yen) from Suzuki Sake Brewery in Akita.

It looks like doburoku. As its name suggests, it is thick and creamy because the mash of pure rice sake is strained and finely ground in a blender. This time-consuming, kneaded nigori sake leaves an impression with its soft sweetness.

This is Gunma's "Ryujin Sake Brewery's Oze no Yukidoke" (825 yen). This sake won the Junmai Daiginjo Trophy in the SAKE category at the IWC2023, the world's largest wine and sake competition held annually in the UK.

It had a fresh taste and was very easy to drink.

The final dish is definitely rice cooked in a clay pot! Takeaway is also available.

Finish off with seasonal clay pot rice!

It takes a little time to prepare after ordering, so it's best to order well in advance. On this day, I ordered "Firefly squid and bamboo shoots in clay pot rice" (1,408 yen).

The menu changes with the seasons, so that's another fun thing to look forward to. If you have any leftover rice cooked in the clay pot, you can take it home.

At "Uoya Sandaime Shino Inse," you can enjoy fresh seafood and sake according to the season. It's a restaurant you'll want to visit again and again. Please enjoy it. (Text by Ponmika)
