[Accommodation Report] Feel like you're abroad in Fukuoka! A resort hotel with ocean views and jacuzzis in every room, perfect for anniversaries
Hello♪ I'm chippachapus and I love going to cafes, gourmet food and traveling.
This time, we will introduce a resort hotel located in Kamiminato, Munakata City!
Enjoy a resort atmosphere in Fukuoka! HOTEL GREGES (Munakata City) - A hotel where you can enjoy a spectacular ocean view
HOTEL GREGES is located in a place surrounded by nature and the sea, about a 15-minute drive from JR Kagoshima Main Line Togo Station.
The contrast between the white hotel and the blue of the sea and sky is stunning, creating an extraordinary space that makes you feel as if you are overseas.
This is the first hotel in Japan produced by the world-renowned designer Catherine Memmi, and the chairs, lighting, and other items were designed exclusively for Hôtel Greige by the Italian furniture brand Cassina IXC.
It was a design that looked picturesque no matter where you looked at it.
In addition to accommodation, there are also cafes and restaurants that can be used by non-guests as well.
Let me introduce it to you right away.
All rooms are equipped with a jacuzzi bath! The pure white space is very stylish and relaxing, with the sound of the waves.
There are only six guest rooms with ocean views, each with a different color scheme (white, gray, etc.) and design.
This time, I chose "La Suite Blanche (White Suite Room)."
As the name suggests, the room was based on white and had a luxurious atmosphere.
It was spacious and I was able to relax.
What's more, all rooms come with a jacuzzi bath.
When you open the blinds and glass windows, you'll be greeted by a spectacular ocean view! I felt like I was floating on the sea.
This balcony is 70 square meters in size.
There are almost no buildings or roads around the hotel, so time passes quietly. Why not relax and unwind while listening to the sound of the waves?
The sunset sinking into the sea was also very beautiful.
Parfaits, tarts, and even roll cakes! A seasonal afternoon tea set where you can savour the luxury of seasonal strawberries
The poolside cafe "La Galerie" is located on the first floor, ground floor of the hotel.
The interior of the restaurant has a chic grey design, and the glass windows offer a great view of the ocean.
There are also comfortable sofas lined up by the pool. The sunset you can see from here is also spectacular.
At the cafe, you can enjoy not only single sweets such as parfaits and cakes, but also the "Afternoon Tea Set" (3,960 yen per person *orders must be for two or more people) whose theme changes with the season.
The Afternoon Tea Set is limited to six groups per day. When I visited, the theme was "strawberry" (all photos are of "strawberry" theme), but from Saturday, April 1, 2023, the theme will change to "strawberry x matcha."
This is the "savory" course that is served first on a separate plate. Clockwise from the left, it is roast beef, salmon mille-feuille, shrimp and avocado tartare, spring vegetable and bacon quiche, octopus fritters, and homemade salmon rillettes.
Each one is just the right size for 2-3 bites.
The salmon mille-feuille combined the rich flavors of salmon and cheese, with the two tastes spreading in your mouth in a well-balanced way.
Next, we'll introduce the sweets at the Afternoon Tea Stand.
The top plate contains four types of cake: a strawberry roll cake, a mini tart, a macaron, and a mousse.
The second plate contained chocolate chip scones, strawberry jam, strawberry eclairs, milk pudding, and Amaou almond chocolate.
The third plate contained chocolate chip muffins, cheese pie, raspberry brownies, and cookies.
There is also a mini strawberry parfait available!
In addition to strawberries, it contains small portions of various ingredients, such as two types of ice cream (vanilla and strawberry), chocolate brownie, and chocolate sauce.
Overall it was light and delicious, and I could eat it all in one go.
Finally, it also comes with a mini waffle (with berry sauce).
The waffle, with its soft, sweet butter flavor, was a perfect match with the slightly milky cream and sweet and sour strawberries.
The cafe is open to non-guests as well, so it's great for girls' get-togethers or dates. *Children under 12 years of age are not allowed.
Enjoy a creative French dinner course in a restaurant overlooking the sea
For dinner, we went to the restaurant L'Orchidée Blanche, which overlooks the sea.
Here you can enjoy the chef's original French cuisine, made using seasonal ingredients.
First, we toast to the sunset. The course menu consists of seven dishes.
Let me introduce the menu for this day. First, the first appetizer.
Three types of dishes are served on dishes made from oak, a reference to the sacred tree of Munakata Taisha Shrine.
From the left, potato soup (vichyssoise), mini pancakes topped with Caprese, and tuna cheeks prepared in a Nanbanzuke style.
This is the second appetizer.
The dish is topped with fresh fish such as button shrimp, sea urchin, and orange caviar, as well as broad bean sauce, scallop consommé jelly, and a layer of a dessert reminiscent of the French dessert blancmange.
The fresh fish had a firm texture, and the celery flavor of the blancmange added a nice accent to the taste. It spread softly inside the mouth and had a smooth texture.
The third appetizer was extra thick asparagus wrapped in kadaif.
There is pancetta (pork) in between, white turnip puree instead of sauce, and dried mullet roe on top.
The crispy texture of the kadaif and the crunchy texture of the asparagus were perfect, and the delicious flavor that spread throughout my mouth was irresistible.
The fourth appetizer is a meat dish made with 100% Charolais beef from France, smothered in a generous amount of sauce made from red wine.
I could taste the flavor of the meat directly and it was very delicious.
This is a fish dish. Crispy grilled rockfish skin is paired with parboiled Hokkaido octopus.
The sauce was made with clam stock combined with tomatoes and coriander to give it a Portuguese flavour, so by dipping the fish in the sauce I was able to enjoy a taste that evoked the Mediterranean.
This is the main meat dish, Wagyu beef fillet. It is Chateaubriand, and is soft yet meaty with an irresistible flavor.
Served with spring vegetables.
In addition, bread, palate cleansers, desserts, and coffee will also be served.
All of them were so delicious that I can't even describe them in words.
The dinner course is also available to non-guests.

Breakfast can be brought to your room.
It will be set up by the window so you can relax and enjoy the view of the ocean and blue sky.
The menu includes Itoshima herb salad, fruit, homemade bacon, mashed potatoes, yogurt, and three types of bread.
You can choose from three main egg dishes.
In the photo, the item in the foreground is an omelet, and the item in the background is a fried egg.
It was also nice to be able to eat at my own pace without worrying about what others thought.
A spectacular location! If you want to hold a top-notch resort wedding, this is the place for you!
HOTEL GREGES also has a wedding hall attached.
It's in a fantastic location and is apparently very popular.
The chapel, reception hall, and restaurant all have ocean views.
They also offer plans for anniversaries and birthdays, and you can even rent out the chapel for a proposal plan.
