[Eating around Dazaifu] 3 exquisite sweets from popular Japanese confectionery shops! New specialty "Shine Muscat Dango" also available!
~You'll love Fukuoka even more~
We send out information from Fukuoka every day that will make you say,"Yeah, that's right!"
Hello♪ I'm chippachapus and I love going to cafes.
Speaking of the approach to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, there are lots of delicious foods to eat while walking around.
This time, we will introduce three recommended sweets for this season from "Tenzan Dazaifu Main Store," a shop that is also a hot topic on social media!
Take-out Japanese sweets specialty store "Tenzan Dazaifu Main Store" (Dazaifu City)
Tenzan Dazaifu Main Store is a Japanese sweets takeout specialty store located about a two-minute walk from Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine.
In addition to standard items such as the signature menu item "Onigawara Monaka" and "Warabimochi" made with real bracken flour, Japanese sweets made with seasonal ingredients that appear periodically are also popular.
This is a must-visit restaurant when eating your way around Dazaifu, and there can be long queues on weekends.
Introducing the new crispy and juicy "Shine Muscat Dango"
"Shine Muscat Dango" was newly introduced on July 7, 2022 (from 600 yen, *varies depending on stock). It is available for a limited time until around mid-October (sales times vary each day as fruits delivered on the day are used).
Three large Shine Muscat grapes and a white bean paste dumpling are skewered on the skewer. It looks cute too.
Shine Muscat grapes are crisp and chewy, and the juicy taste of bursting fruit juice is irresistible.
The white bean paste dango has white bean paste on the outside and a chewy dango inside. It has just the right amount of sweetness to bring out the sweetness of the Shine Muscat grapes.
It won't melt even in the heat!? A new texture ice cream made with kudzu starch "Amaou Kudzu Ice Bar"
This is the popular sweet "Amaou Kudzu Ice Bar" (400 yen), which appears every year from around May through the summer. It will be on sale until mid-September.
This ice cream is made with kudzu starch and is chock-full of "Amaou" strawberries from Fukuoka Prefecture! As you go from the outside to the inside, the texture changes from soft and chewy to crunchy, making this a new type of ice cream.
In addition to being healthy as it does not contain eggs, dairy products or flour, it is also great that it does not run off even when it melts as it is made from kudzu starch.
The sweet and sour taste of the Amaou strawberries and the gentle sweetness of the kudzu ice cream were well balanced and very delicious.
Crispy and fragrant! The striking "Onigawara Monaka" with a "demon tile" motif
The signature dish, "Onigawara Monaka," comes in four varieties: tsubuan, shiroan, yamechaan, and tsubuan (with mochi).
The name "Onigawara Monaka" is said to have been chosen because it is based on the motif of "onigawara" (demon tiles) that were excavated from the ruins of the Dazaifu government office.
"Tsubuan (with mochi)" (270 yen, food-on-the-go only) is usually only sold in the winter, but due to its popularity it is still on sale now.
The bean paste had a great texture and sweetness from the red beans, and went perfectly with the crispy and fragrant monaka. The chewy mochi also added a nice accent to the flavor.
This "Yame Tea Bean Paste" (240 yen) had a refreshing sweetness.
You can enjoy all the varieties introduced here at once until September.
This is a limited-time offer, so be sure to try them all♪ (Text by chippachapus)
