The Torikai Yahata Autumn Festival 2020 will be held on Saturday, October 10th and Sunday, October 11th at Torikai Yahata (Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City). The festival will feature new normal events, including food (takeout), music (online streaming), and art (original goshuincho).

What kind of grand festival is this year's special event being planned by this 1,700-year-old shrine?

What it was like in 2019

Torikai Yahata, known for enshrining the god of matchmaking, is celebrating its 10th year since it began holding its autumn festival in festival style.

However, this year, in light of the COVID-19 situation, the content has been significantly reviewed and changed. This year, for the first time, we will be trying to hold a new "Autumn Festival" online. New plans will be developed to make the festival safe, fun, and energetic for both visitors and exhibitors.

<Goshuincho Project> Crowdfunding to spread the works of Fukuoka-based artists nationwide

Original goshuincho (stamp book) were produced by nine artists active in Fukuoka and across the country. The unique designs, which make use of each artist's unique worldview, are sure to make you want to own one, even if you're not a goshuincho fan.

The product will be made available nationwide through crowdfunding, and will be available for purchase at shrines after the funding deadline (around December).

Cooperation: Drive-Thru Fukuoka

The idea was first proposed in April by restaurant volunteers, cultural figures, and Fukuoka Junior Chamber of Commerce volunteers in Fukuoka Prefecture. Since then, the sales plan has been devised by the volunteers to support businesses and medical workers in difficult situations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event was held for the first time at Nakamura Gakuen University in May. Part of the proceeds from the event was used to donate lunch boxes to the Fukuoka Red Cross Hospital and other organizations. While taking measures to prevent the spread of infection (contact phenomenon, droplet prevention, stay-at-home measures), the event will supplement restaurant sales, provide "fun" at home during the self-restraint period, and support medical workers with meals. The event is evolving into a phase where the drive-thru know-how will be made public and spread to other regions.

Infection prevention measures and operation of Torikai Yahata Autumn Festival 2020

1. Providing advance notice and reminding people about infection control measures

2. Consolidate visitor times and entry points to ensure an appropriate number of people in the venue.

3. Encourage everyone to wear masks

4. The venue entrances will be concentrated in one place and disinfectant mats and disinfectant sprayers will be installed.

5. Temperature checks will be conducted. Anyone with a fever of 37.5℃ or higher will not be allowed entry.

6. Hand sanitizer will be provided at the venue.

7. Install signs and standing stickers to encourage people to maintain a sufficient distance

8. Installation of acrylic panels and vinyl curtains on presenter podiums

8. Disinfection of facilities and equipment will be carried out appropriately by the person in charge.

9. Implementing caution regarding the use of waiting rooms

10. Sales will be mainly made by advance reservation, and will be consolidated at the general reception desk, with cashless payment.

11. To receive food and drink, a pre-registration system will be implemented to avoid overcrowding.

12. Thorough infection prevention measures for staff

13. Where necessary, such as in face-to-face sales, we will manage contact by using droplet prevention sheets, etc.

14. Please refrain from entering and exiting the venue in large groups, shouting in the venue, staying for long periods of time, etc.
