On September 11, 2026, a new tourist destination will open! "Seiryu Park" (Nakasu, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City)
Seiryu Park, located in Nakasu, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City, will open its "North Promenade" and "Bridge Plaza" pedestrian areas along the Nakagawa River to the public on Friday, September 11, 2026.
This initiative utilizes the "Park-PFI system" (*1), which Fukuoka City is promoting to renovate parks using private sector expertise, and promotes "Riverfront NEXT" (*2), a city development project that makes the most of the waterfront.
(*1) A system in which private businesses are selected through public bidding to install park facilities (publicly solicited park facilities) that contribute to improving the convenience of park users, such as restaurants and shops, in urban parks, and to use the profits obtained from the installed facilities to develop park facilities (specific park facilities) in the surrounding area, such as walking paths and plazas, as an integrated project. (*2) Fukuoka City is working to transform the area from Susaki Park to Seiryu Park along the Nakagawa River into a town that opens up to the river, and to create aspace where people can safely and enjoyably stroll around while making use of resources such as waterfronts and history.
